That's exactly what ad blockers do, except you do it manually.

I dont believe in adblockers. Things can get problematic with downloads.

The only issue with adblockers could be that they are blocked on some sites. Maybe they could also harvest some info about the ads you get displayed, but if they are on the Google Web Store, it's likely that they are perfectly safe to use.
