The captain of the garrison, recognizing the Loke-Rim, orders the gates to be opened. Guardsmen with halberds stand at attention, showing respect to the Loke-Rim. Before the party goes deeper into the city, they are given Thieves Oil, in case of emergency. There have been few cases of the Plague in Rhûnost, but full precautionary measures must be taken for high ranking government officials.
The Loke-Rim arrives at the Imperial Palace, he had accepted the thieves oil as well. He had encountered several hundred cases of the plague in his own camp, and had taken the right precautions when news of a plague ravaging the continent had reached him.
The gilded gates of the palace are opened, and the Loke-Rim is led through into a hall decorated with red and gold banners. He is led to one of many dining rooms filled with Easterling delicacies. A rectangular table dominates the room, with a large fireplace in front of the longer side. The Loke=Rim is invited to sit. In the opposite chair sits the Loke-Khan Khamul II.
