How do we know it's the Bloodsworn? I don't remember it being revealed to be them.

It's fairly obvious. "The Bloodsworn army disappears from the Earth." Muscovy takes over. "Mysterious men come from the ice and attack Russia."

You can't guard them in Russia. You'd be stopped at the border and sent home.
