You kiddin me? Colored beds! That's like, the first thing I thought they could improve when I started playing Minecraft. If you think about it, colored beds open up a crap ton of opportunities in texture packs. You could have some representing Orc beds, some Gondor beds, some Rohan beds, and maybe even some sort of carpet texture for more detailed floors. Parrots are also pretty cool if you want to have a pirate server or something like that. Plus they dance, and dancing parrots are nothing to disapprove of. -G

I've got nothing against parrots, new mobs are great, especially flying ones. Colored beds, I've been wanting that for awhile as well actually so kudos to you for reminding me. Even still, there's a shit-load of random additions that server no purpose other than to guide- Gonna stop right there and leave it at: I hope there's a setting to disable all the useless noob-guidance bs. That's what Google is for.
