Dear Mr. President, Donald Trump,
With regards to your poll on the political ideology shared by your readers, I must confess I find it awfully redundant.
The tribalist division regarding whether oneself is liberal or conservative says little about one's ideology. Rather, the term describes a stance on being for or against change.
For example, one can be conservative regarding maintaining free speech, of which constitutional protection of individual speech from the government dates centuries in America, and therefore be conservative, and/or can be liberal on the rights of animals, of which are quite lacking and changes to that status quo would make one liberal.
Not to mention that in general, many different things can make one liberal or conservative in both regards. One can be liberal in abortion rights, being that they wish to end government-sanctioned child murder as a conservative nowadays would, and one can desire to be conservative in the ACA, which is associated with political liberalism.
Many conservatives I know wish to maintain the constitution as the founders intended, protect the borders, and reduce both taxes and government spending, whilst wishing to bring an end to the many wars the US is involved in, and end the Welfare programs started by LBJ.
Many liberals I know wish to repeal the second amendment, open the borders, and increase taxes on the wealthy, whilst they wish to continue the conflict in the Middle East & North Korea, and encourage the welfare programs of both LBJ and Obama.
Both are hypocritical, and are now seemingly not very liberal or conservative.
For accurate results, you should poll on different individual issues, as you did regarding pride month.
Regards,
