British (and most European) Police use guns only when there is no other way. Don't think they like it, most of them prefere the LAPD way.

LAPD? Afaik British police normally don't carry guns, the amount of times they have been stabbed jesus.

That's why they prefere to have guns. No one likes to be the wrong side of a knife.... or even a Machete!

The British use tazer guns mostly, as there is no need for firearm unless the person is armed with a firearm. Police in America use their guns unlawfully a lot, that's why Britain doesn't allow standard officers to use them. Another reason is that owning a gun isn't in the British amendment books, so people aren't allowed to have a fire arm unless they have a specific licence or permit. The percentage of gun owners in America is about 83%, whilst in Britain, it's 2%.

well in centuries past guns were a lot less user friendly and a lot harder to do mass killings with. It's not that people today are more insane, it's that the population is significantly larger and squished together. That along with an abundance of more powerful weapons has led to a terrifying increase in gun violence.
