Well actually the average homosexual with HIV 1 costs the country about 350,500$ for medical treatment.

Lack of sex ed leads to STD's. HIV rates are slowly dropping with organisations bringing awareness to it and the importance of being tested. So in a way educating people about HIV is saving the country money. Compulsory LGBTQ sex ed isn't going to give the average homosexual HIV or turn a straight person gay. It will decrease the chance of an at risk person getting HIV by bringing about awareness and extra understanding that can allow them to be safe. I'm for it, it doesn't need to be a "massive thing" but I think it is important that people are informed somewhat because ignorance actually causes a whole lot of problems.

like... why It just doesnt make sense what they would even be doing with this, at most i could see some coverage of LGBT things in a guidance / sex ed class as side material on other things people do, but I dont think an entire section of school curriculum over this would really be warranted at all

Schools need to stay out of things like this, school is supposed to be for education, not a place to gain attention and play the victim card.

I have to agree here. What needs to be taught is citizenship - which means showing respect for your fellow people, regardless of their (legal) preferences. Soon as you start mandating schools (IE, the government) make social issues a part of the education curriculum, then that is asking for trouble. Since when has any government adequately educated or handled any social issues?
