Ok, im not going to sit here and write a little bitchy essay regarding "bring back muh points. Pay to win is BS" but. even though I do agree that points need to be added back, I understand where tim is coming from after reading his most recent posts on these threads. However, I wish to propose solutions to a number of these or at least a few contentions as to why points need to be added back and how it wont be what tim primarily predicts:
1.As a former EW 1 player myself who played with points im sure we can all remember the massive 40 vs 40 or at times 20 vs 20 teams on Erebor, Dale, Tirith, etc. During those times when points were very prominent, we didn't see new players defect but instead, the server saw steady, large numbers. After talking with a number of players on here most agree and will, in fact, play more often if not play harder/more often to reach the covetted classes. Now before those who oppose points stick their head in the sand and say "but muh noobs" just hear out that even on EW 1 players still both vet and noob alike went after points and played/fought harder than before.
2. If you are scared of vets getting these OP classes then make them classes like we see today. Do not make them incredibly OP(Besides maybe add Balrog or Naz Gul but have limits and insanely high prices), have them as classes with simply different mechanics. I mean if a class is truly as OP as you fear then make it for prices where only the select few can reach or at high enough prices to force an influx in players playing to reach it, while next to none actually will(Ex: Naz/Balrog/Some OP troll class?)
3.Money. Money makes the world go round and its understandable you see the pay to win as a means to earn cash. For this, I see two solutions to still have $$$$$$$. The first, being have classes capable of being bought OR being earned in game that way new guys if they so desperately wish to stop getting sniped by Rikumaru or something could purchase a troll and still get sniped just slightly less easily. In all seriousness, I mean that if you fear the vets dominating the noobs make some classes available or maybe a few donator only classes to help combat what you fear. The next option is keeping ranks, keep the ranks but make them capable of being donator only. Every night during the graveyard hours of the server players wish they could do mapvote or switch to some team that is full. Make ranks potentially at slightly higher prices and players WILL donate for them for mapvote and more. You could make classes earned by store and points while ranks you can keep in store.
Now anyone who opposes points, please take time to think about this and if you oppose, outright lock this thread for "necroposting", or say "but the vets will dominate the noobs with OP classes", all of the above, or something similar please message me so we can actually discuss this debacle. The player base is overwhelmingly in favor of adding points back and frankly, so am I.
