How does one attach images?

I have been trying to figure this out for a long time. This is what I have been doing.

1. I go to google images, right click an image, copy the image url, and paste it into the painting icon.
2. I press insert image, and when I preview it, it's just a really long URL.

I would appreciate the help.

You have to click view image, which is in a box when you left click on a image in google images. That takes you to the image, where then you can copy the URL. All the images presented on the google image page are thumbnails.
