Player of the week/month

Hey, what about a voting system for player of the week/month. The player that has had the biggest influence over game play over the past week/month.

I.E - Wixxi capping many flags
- Polarnik for his continual effort in reporting rule breakers
- Lotrloz for his deadly marksmanship

etc.

Could even have a tag?

A sort of 'man of the match', but for minecraft.

what say you?

I like the idea. If its accepted the command for voting would have to be spread out so people know what to do.
The only issue I have with it is the risk of spam, people shouting "Vote for me! Vote for me!". Anyone possible ways of preventing this?

This idea is all just a big contest. Its unfair to others for voting for a player of the week, as there are over 600 players and 50 on at a time. Why don't we just celebrate every player instead of choosing one player :) It would also lead to fighting over candidates.

Hmm, might have to think of a better idea to improve community connections.
and once again the old nemesis 'SPAM' have a part to play.

iwasnumber4 do you have any idea how to celebrate every player? i can't think of anything at the moment.

I’m not sure how it could lead to a conflict, angry words maybe, but not a full out situation, if everyone follows the rules there should be not major problem.

It could be a secret vote, you get nominated secretly, and results are shown at the end of the week/month. Reducing the vote for me problem. (might need more thought)

I nominate...
*drum roll*

nice banner sauron how about you enchant all our weapons with smite 5 and unleash a few hundred zombies against us
to add some randomness to the battles (mordor vs gondor vs random undead) (just use /enchant @a 17 5 )

Now I've read Mdk's 2nd post on this thread its a bit more clear to me, have you seen anyone fighting over the fact they didn't win top voter? Thats an individual prize and I for one haven't seen any conflict.
I like the idea.

Bad Idea. It will only result in contest between players over popularity which is something you can go and do in school, not here.

Ok then, what about the winner is the person with the highest average kill streak per week/month, or most consistent kill streak.

Some sort of friendly competition, which would make the server even friendlier especially to new players.

if it is a competition to get the most kills then it would be entirely fair as there is no voting,or nominating just "who is the deadliest" if we changed the title to "most dangerous player" then i MIGHT go along with this.

Could people please READ what is written first before making a comment. Does the term average kill or consistent kill streak mean anything?

And iwasnumber4, how can you say a competition will end in chaos? I don't know your experience on competitions, but my experiences with competitions (in a game or reality) don't end that way.

Well this is not just you in the competition. There would be many others included in this. There are currently 98 players on. Think of the big picture rather then simplifying it into 10 people. There could be many ways this could end in chaos, such as someone not winning by 1 point and completely going off and swearing and everything. We don't want that.

Well that could be an interesting result with the cursing and swearing.
But I never thought of a competition with only 10 people - that would be boring, I have always thought of the ‘bigger picture’, and still have you not read the term most consistent/ highest average, who says that the results have to be public. All I am suggesting is a FREINDLY competition between every player. What is wrong with that?

I see exactly where you are going with this, but there are many ways this could end in havoc. I have had "contests" like this on other servers and it always ends bad, even when its something like killstreaks or stats. There are just those people that will whine and spam when they don't win.
