Player Portfolios

Here on Empire War, we have a unique philosophy in which staff should be only chosen by mods in a long and thorough examination process followed by a discussion. Nothing should be changed here, this is an extraordinarily good mentality to have when selecting possible candidates to help the server and community out. Although, why not have the addition of player portfolios to make this process easier?

These player portfolios would be created by a player for themselves, and withhold information concerning activity, ban/mute history, player kindness, time on server, etc. They wouldn't be staff applications, but simply present to make the process overall easier for staff.

This idea sprouted from the "Staff (don't kill me)" thread, as it started becoming somewhat of an application thread.

Overall, player portfolios would only have positive outcomes without any risk or negatives to it, I say we should implement them. It would be in a separate forum section with a specific format created by the current staff.

What do you think?

I'm not quite understanding what would be in these portfolios.
Here's a short example-

Hello, I am ______. I have been playing here for _____. I am __ years old. I have _____ experience moderating servers. I am ___ mature, and have ____ to prove it. I am usually kind around others, and tend to be _________. I like helping people out. My overall attitude and respect is _______. I have ______ time to spend on the server because my activities include ______.

It can also be in application form, like so;
Name-
Age-
Experience-
Maturity-
Skype-
Activeness-

Maybe it could be done as a less serious form of staff application. You would make one if you wouldn't mind becoming staff whereas with a staff application you would make one if you wanted to become staff.

This would be cool as long as it isn't the exact same as a staff app(which it seems like you don't want to completely do that), it should have unique things that you would put in instead of the regular age, how long have you played, etc. Also I do not know how you can label maturity, most people would just say they have over 9,000 maturity instead of being honest.

Or the "Introduction" section of the forum could be transferred to this where there is a format like you suggested.

Yes please. If we would be in the debate who to add for staff, we could just look on a thread, and immediately check how the stats of players :3

Hello, I am gelekaasvlek aka Niek. I have been playing here for like 3.5 years. I am 16 years old. I have quite some experience moderating servers. I am quite mature (though not always), and have ways to prove it. I am usually kind around others, and tend to be extremely honest. I like helping people out. My overall attitude and respect is not negative. I have alot of time to spend on the server because my activities include running around lobbies and being dank.

(This made no sense to fill in, lol)

Name- Niek
Age- 16
Experience- Quite alot
Maturity- Cba rating my own maturity, however I'd not call myself immature (compared to alot of others, that is)
Skype- Globally known, no worries here.
Activeness- 5/7

Tbh, I have no idea why I did this, but me rating my own maturity is weird af, aswell as the first story thingy you put up to fill in.

Well, I would have said "I can be quite mature", but that wouldnt have fit the form...

lol! Gelek? Mature? Tell another one. But damn it :D

Hello, I am Tobberz aka Tobberz. I have been playing here for like 3 years. I am 15 years old. I have some experience moderating servers. I am mature when I feel like it, and have various ways to prove it. I am usually kind around others, and am honest. I like helping people out. My overall attitude and respect is not negative. I have alot of time to spend on the server because my activities include eating poor helpless noobs as they are crushed by the glory of my rocks and eaten by my gnashing teeth; also obliterating 'pros' with my god-sent rocks, that glide majestically to their target. (Lol and I do play every night)]

Those were just bare minimum, quick-example, unrealistic portfolios. The portfolios would be heavily detailed with a player's own writing form and numerous, numerous things in it.

But making them extremely detailed with own writing form and such stuff, would completely negate this:

If the posts would be incredibly detailed and stuff, what's the point of even having a specific format for it; the whole point of having a format, being making things overseeable, would be negated if it'd have to be incredibly detailed.

So making it smaller makes it easier for mods to "Immediately check the stats of players", and thus IMO better. Because you can write 17 pages of how good you'd be, you'd still not get mod if your name were to be adamrob or bubbaberet...

Because if your name is bubba or adam, we, the staff team, expect atleast a 30 page journal :3

True that. Well, then medium amount of detail would be fitting. Just enough to show your worth, but not too big so the staff can easily look through them.
