Yes he drove to fast but he died in a horrible way (thank god he died on impact, so did Roger Rodas his buddy who was driving). Sadly his time ended way to soon.

The tree they crashed into was like 7 inches in diameter.

Yes but the crashed into a lamppost first and then hit the tree, but they died on impact against the lamppost, then it hit the tree and car catched fire, and then later exploded and burned out completly.
