I didn't realize before but apparently there is an unlisted rule on EW that forbids anybody to take screenshots of staff members in a negative manner.

Unfortunately I learned this out the hard way (Yes I got banned) that you cant take these screen shots and that even posting them on your WALL is not allowed. Your WALL. Something that is yours and you can do what ever you want with it and is completely separated from the server/forums.

If Tim didn't want anybody to see what he said on the server why did he write these messages in chat, all I am doing is letting those who had the misfortune of not being on the server at the time see what happened

Why does this matter Tim owns this server and can ban anyone for any reason he wants because he started this server. If you don't like it tough that is the way it is. If you go into someone's house and for whatever reason they want or absolutely no reason they can kick you out because it is their property and this server is no different.
 
He can ban anyone he want, BUT banning people for personal reasons can quickly turn to your downfall. Simply because:
More people will disagree with a illogical ban than a logical one. More people disagreeing means more people leaving, which means less possible renevue.
People, seeing someone banned for something as seemingly innocent as thus, will feel insecure in their hearts. Such insercurity will lower their gameplay quality on that server, possibly causing them to leave, which means less possible renevue.
This could make it easier for the banned person and/or their friends to convince people not to join. It gives them a factoid which could support their view of the owner being bad. Less people joining means less possible renevue.

There's more things that can be caused by this, but I'm not going to say all of them. Personally, if I was a owner of a server, I would refrain from banning people for such reasons to frequently. Especially not multiple in one day.

A few points:

1. If you are going to talk to someone that's banned don't tell everyone about it.
2. If you are going to talk about someone that's banned do it somewhere that Tim will never know about it.
3. Jumping is fun. Jumping is good. Jump more. Jump!
 
Ok, I have a controversial post that I can post. It involves how if tim keeps up this behavior, it can lead to the server's down fall. I compared a possible scenario that compares the downfall of the server to the downfall of north korea. And I made a scenario what could happen that leads to a somewhat revolution of the server or a civil war. I may or may not post it. If I do, I will put myself at risk of being banned from the forums and the servers. If any of the staff do not want me to post it, I will not. You the staff can make the decision.
 
Honestly, i respect tim. He's done so much in the time that this server has been open. He and the staff are amazing! This server has come from nowhere to being constantly full with thousands of dedicated players. Despite all this, I think that while tim shouldn't be banning people for personal reasons, i do think that if he is being pestered by players (such as spammed on skype) he does have the right to take action. I personally think that banning them on the server is a little rough, but I also respect his need for privacy. So in reiteration of my previous page, i would like to thank tim for his ceaseless dedication to us, and i would in closing like to make 2 requests.

1. The community not rag on him about everything. He's not omnipotent, omniscient, and is just a human like the rest of us.
2. That tim moderate his bans a little more. In some cases (such as talking about a******) could just be that. Talk. in other cases, i think that he should warn them about ragging on him about those players (many of them might not have seen the entire flame war) and then tempban if they continue.

Just my personal thoughts on the matter. All hail Tibbles the Mighty, Lord of Empirewar etc.

I almost left but luckily Iwas told me this. Leaving would only fuel the issues so I didnt leave. kudos to enderynicky for clarifying this in a really great way. the owner can ban anyone he wants for any reason but there will be effects.

Do u even know what this was all about? A owner isnt supposeD tO say that. Ofc he can dO whatever he wants on EW, but do people actually respect him for that?

Well i think staff will think that I am not trying to be objective because i am in that stuff with a 10-day-ban.
1. Yes, he can ban whoever he wants and he showed that to me (although it wasn't really necessary, i didn't say a word against his power, just against his reasoning, because
2. Don't ban people for doing stuff that's basic human rights. You can have an own opinion, and it doesn't matter if it's against the one of the admin. You can talk or not talk to whoever you want, and when you are not on a server, you can be on another, doesn't matter what server or doing what you want. And when you get banned for basic stuff like this, a server strongly reminds me of DDR-Times when one tried to avoid and (political) opposition.
3. When you ban people, do it when you have an actual reason and PROOF.
4. This is not directly aimed at EW, it should be happening on every server, i have been on many ones that banned people for unreasonable stuff. I don't say some bans here were stupid, this is a general post and an aswer to the posts made in this thread. No offense.
 
This is quite honestly ridiculous on Tim's side he should not have done this it was unfair, there are lot's of us in contact with ant and that is not something that we should be banned for.

Oh yeah, now I've made this reply I am probably gonna be banned -.- because that is how Tim works. :I
 
The reason I banned him is because he only showed parts of the conversation without backstory in an attempt to make me hated and look bad.

Just to give an example I said: "I can ban everyone for whatever reason I want" is because of people whining stuff like "OH YOU CANT BAN HIM HE DIDNT BREAK A WRITTEN RULE."

The written rules are guidelines, if staff finds you unfit to continue play on the server you get banned, which usually goes with my permission, or in my case, I decide if you are unfit to play on the server, and these people weren't fit.

Also, I didn't ban anyone for talking to ant, I banned them for spreading Ant's word about me on the server and to me, if I say I don't want contact with him and you continue to tell me what he tells you to tell me, you're basically speaking as his alt, giving me plenty of reason to ban you.
