I have typed in all possible ip's for the server and for some reason it doesnt work on my mac, it only works on my pc, and i have no idea why. I've typed in the ip's identically and none have worked. I get a connection refused message whenever i use the numbered ip "109.163.232.168:25577". The other two ip's do not register as ip's. "Unknown Host".
Here are the ip's i have used...
- 109.163.232.168:25577
- lotr.empirewar.org
- mc.empirewar.org
none of these have worked and i am very frustrated.
please help asap.

have had this same issue, but by changing my DNS I fixed it.
Heres a simple 9 step guide to fixing the problemo

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1: Go to the Control Panel.

Step 2: Click Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.

Step 3: Select the connection for which you want to configure Google Public DNS. For example:
-To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click Local Area Connection > Properties.
-To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection > Properties.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Step 4: Select the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click Properties.

Step 5: Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.

Step 6: Click OK.

Step 7 Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.

Step 8: Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers:
For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Step 9: Restart the connection you selected in step 3.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After doing this the IP's should work :)

EDIT: I see more people having this issue, this fix could maybe be put in a thread on its own somewhere.
