~Competition Time~
So I see all of you Bards and had a thought. Why not have a server-wide short story contest? I'm talking real short - 500 words or less. As far as subject matter, you have these topics to choose from:
-Loss
-Reunion
-Teamwork
-Competition
You can twist these themes in any way you desire. Just make sure that ONE of them is present somehow! The story can be humorous or dark, realistic or fantasy, simple or complex - it's all up to you.
The judges shall be all of you - I'll put the entries to a vote when it is over. Categories for scoring will be as follows:
Conventions - Grammatically correct, capitalization, spelling, etc. I decide this one. Everyone should get all of the points from it... Worth 5 points.
Creativity - I don't want to see some cookie-cutter cliche story. Give us something unique! Worth 15 points.
Writing Skill - How well the story is written. Sense of voice, flow, etc. Worth 15 points.
Enjoyment - Did YOU like the story? How'd you feel after reading it? Would you read it again? Worth 15 points.
Adding up to a grand total of 50 points.
What I will do is make a post with all the entries and have the players submit their scores to me via PM. They'll grade the latter three categories - creativity, writing skill, and enjoyment.
Deadline is 1 week from today. You can submit your entry as a reply to this post or as a message to me if you'd like people to not see what you've written.
There is no limit on number of entries per person - but only one entry per person can win. It is highly recommended that you concentrate on one. Make it your best work. You will receive score feedback on all your entries, though.
Show me what you've got. I guarantee there are a few writers in this forum. I know I'm one. I want to see what you guys can do! Don't worry if you think you're not good enough - just have fun with it, you might be surprised!
EDIT: This does NOT have to be Lord of the Rings based. In fact, I'd prefer if it wasn't. It can be, of course, but I'd much rather read your original ideas!
