Sticking together

Well, with the impending EULA, I figured that one of us should start up some small non-cost vanilla/modded Minecraft servers. If anyone knows how to set up a server (I do not) we could try this so that the faithful Empirewar people can stick together. We would also have to decide who would be a mod/admin and what commands should be used. Is this a good idea? Does anyone want to do this?

u guys could use the dragon plan on mcprohisting, it allows for unlimited players for 60$ a month. or, the diamond plan for 40$ which allows for 63 players(this is probably a better idea).
I have steam, and skype, so il help.

p.s. the server could have 6 admins/owners who take to urns paying.
ex. admin1 pays 40$ one month,admin2 pays 40 $the next, and so on.

Why doesn't someone just host a server on their computer? You could have like 15 ppl at a time on there and it'd cost nothing, besides on average EW has only 15 people on at a time, and this'd only be really devoted people

i think i could buy a server for 10$ a month, it could host 25 people at a time. see, servers are usually lagy if hosted from home.i am willing to pay for the community to stay alive.

I say we don't cross this bridge till we get to it. Nothing's for sure about what's gonna happen with the EULA, but I'm sure sjoerd and the other mods have some tricks up their sleeves and there's plenty of ways to get around this if we just think logically about it. Then once we find out if the server will have to close THEN we do this. Also we should make sjoerd an admin out of respect for all he's put into this server.

Something else would be if multiple people could host servers. Just have like 3 or 4 different servers. Dunno how hard that would be, though.

We honestly don't know what to except of Mojang's EULA actions.
We are waiting for it just like you, and can only hope for it not to be bad.

If it is bad, there's a chance we will collapse, or have to live from player DONATIONS (No rewards). This could also mean all donator ranks going away or getting replaced with point ranks.
