I'm making a small guide, while I'm still working on Minas, just to let you guys know I'm still here
A short note from the author
[rule]
To start off, I wanted to make a guide for trolls, to let people know what my experiences were with this class, but I also wanted to let you guys know that I'm still working on my other guide, Minas Tirith.
Troll, what is it?
[rule]
This class, know as the troll, is a good class for a beginner, but also for a more experienced PvP-ers. They're often founded as ''Too OP'', while I can't really agree with that anymore. If you face someone who knows how to play troll, and you're a swordsmen or an archer, you're mostly liking, well you've a problem, let's just say that. As said before, people say it's a very ''OP'' class, while it's not. Mages and archers counter them badly. You are short distance, they're a long distance. You're slow, they're fast. You've a huge amount of damage, so do they. If you die while being a mage or archer, because of a troll, it's most likely because of bad positioning, or too much overwhelming enemies, where a troll gave the last hit.
Why pick troll?
[rule]
There are many reasons to pick troll, for example: Just to get kills, boost up your kd, try to get a better killstreak, or simply just to have fun. The troll class works for all of the given reasons. The troll class will give you fun, tons of kills, which will boost up your kd, or maybe even break your killstreak! Of course, only when played right.
The strength of the troll
[rule]
A troll is only very strong against donator classes, swordsmen, and other close combat fighters. They also 1-2 hit an archer/mage, but that's mostly because of the reasons I already gave. The strength of the troll comes in dealing huge amount of damage (Strength 2), combined with armor (Resistance 3), making you able to push very hard. You're able to basically kill most units, if you play it right. The best thing to do to get kills, is killing isolated targets, or hitting targets against the wall, making them lose their sprint, and smacking them then down, because, you're slow. (Slowness 4, and you smash slower then other units!)
Throwing
[rule]
The troll has a really, but then a really, good ability when used good: Throwing stones! These stones immediately kill the person it lands on, which can be a really good thing if you use it on a donator for example, however, the disadvantages of the rock are quite irritating. The first thing, is that it has quite a long cooldown, making you not able to use it every few seconds, and for second, if you get hit while wearing the stone, you make it drop, and you've to wait again for the stone to throw. And also, when you wear the stone, you'll get a very heavy slow bonus, and you can't jump, making you easy to hit by archers. The last thing, is the stone himself. It has a very short range, and if a teammate walks in front of it, it's useless, and you'll have to wait for the cooldown again.
Knowing this, you should know what throwing all gives you. But when to use it? I would certainly suggest when a gate opens, throwing it immediately, making you hopefully hit someone, making it 1 person less to kill at the gate. When a few trolls do this, you could almost walk to the flag. Another moment when I suggest using it, is when a donator is heading to you, and you'll need to wait for the right moment to throw. Don't throw it when he's too far away, or to close, being able to hit you, making you drop the stop.
Bashing
[rule]
As troll, you've a specific role on you; You need to bash gates. It's quite simple, you run to the gate, and bash it repeatedly. However, while doing this, is the reason why I'm writing this small chapter; Always stay aware of your environment. If your team is getting killed, and you don't even notice that, you're just bashing the gate for almost nothing. See your team get killed, by a medium/large force? Help them! They're there to back you up when you break in.
How to counter a troll?
[rule]
Quite simple, I suggest taking the class mage, if you aren't the best archer, and buy yourself flamethrower. If you spot one, and you can get yourself a good shot, use your flamethrower, combined with a normal fireball after it! It will deal tons of damage, most of the times enough to kill one, and since trolls most of the times get a lot of kills, you'll quickly be able to refund that flamethrower. If you're good with archer, take it. It's the best counter against troll. You're able to lay constant harass on him, with semi-spamming (moving backwards and firing with a 3/4 drawn bow). This way the trolls will usually try to jump to increase their speed, wanting to kill you, the action of moving backwards and firing will stagnate the trolls movement when it jumps. Lastly aim for where the troll is heading - Is troll is moving left, aim further to the left, and so on.
(Countering a troll with archer explained by MD_K47).
For the more intermediate players, you can try to kill him hand-to-hand. If you do that, I suggest the class spearman or sergeant (Sergeant only for donators). Most of the times, they'll throw a rock when they see you. When they pick it up, you immediately throw your spear against them, making them drop their stone. Then, you can rush at them, and try to kill them. But, this is the most trickiest part. Since they've a lot of damage, you don't want them to hit you. By smashing while you're infront of them, isn't really effective. Try to kill them, while you attack them from every side, also called ''circling''.
You jump around them, while still hitting with your sword. In this way, they can barely hit you, and you're able to kill them. However, watch out for their teammates, since they can hit you.
My experiences with troll
[rule]
First of all, I was on of the people who found the class to strong, and called almost every troll a noob. They made me lower my kd, which really made me angry. Back then, it was around 2.5, gotten only by swordsman , archer and a bit of mage. Then, I started playing him. My kd quickly went to 2.6 in a few hours, and I was suprised. I play him now, together with swordsman as main classes. Now, my kd has risen to 2.91 thanks to this amazing class!
The problems you can face if you're a troll
[rule]
Sometimes, you can get some problems. This can be in chat, people saying that you're only using noobclasses, or in Pvp, when facing a huge group of archers and mages, focusing you. On the chat problem, I would say, ignore it, you're playing here. They can find it a noobclass, but most of the cases, they're having a bad kd, because they only go mage and walk into groups, dying in a few second.
In the Pvp problem I mentioned, you're a probably dead. But well, get over it, and start killing again! It happens sometimes when you get that, and that's the risk of playing troll. If you're having a problem with troll, please notify it, since most people on the forums could help you with, giving you some advice what to do.
Ladders
[rule]
A very important thing to know, is that trolls can't climb ladders. If you walk near them, you destroy them. However, this can be used on both amazing ways, and also very dumb ways. For an example of the really good way to use it, is when the enemy made a ladder up to top of the wall, making them come over. You can come up the wall, and defend it, or you could fall down next to the wall, and destroy all the ladders in a few seconds, and end at the bottom of the ladders, where the enemy is, which you can slaughter then. A really dumb way to use it, is walking near the ladder which your teammates made to get on top of a gate, or wall, making them unable to get there.
''Troll is a noobclass, only noobs play it''
[rule]
No. Yes, you get kills quick, but it's a class. It has its advantages, and disadvantages. Only I can say, pick yourself a counter if you get killed too much by trolls, and kill them instead.
