Hey guys Dav here and I'm trying to connect to the server but apparently it's down, The server isn't even showing connection status. If you guys are actually on the server right now then... HOW!?! Even PlanetMinecraft shows that the server is offline on the Server Page, I don't know what's going on, but all I wanna do is record a few videos of the Battle of Helm's Deep on the server, so yeah, could someone plz tell me what the mordor is going on here?

Oh god, DDOS? Screw them :P anyway my YouTube Channel name is Davishpwns. Just try searching it and you'll find it. My profile picture is the White Tree of Gondor btw :P

lol I guess I was to busy to check the main page, doing some personal changes to the server resource pack, btw, it's actually missing a few textures that I had to find from the original Jolicraft pack and add them in. I don't know if tim knew about this but the resource pack for the server is missing the texture for the diamond (or mithril) sword, so yeah, epicquestz might wanna do some changes lol ;-)

That... my lad... is a Dragon. lol just kidding. It's short for Distributed Denial Of Service, I think it's some kind of Trojan Virus or Hack, Just looked it up :P

I think it can be stopped with a couple of black arrows to the knee. I hope tim can fix it, I actually perfected the Diamond Sword texture in the server Resource Pack Just now... I wanna give it a field test on the server for myself, oh wait a sec, I can't cuz i'm not a donator lol

The DDOS itself isn't a virus, but the DDOSers often use viruses to make it work.
It basically spams the server so much that the server wont work for the people that wanna play on it.
You need a lot of computers to do this, and one common and cheap way is to design a virus and spread it. The virus then makes your computer spam the target.
The target is selected by the person who orders and pays for the DDOS, which can be expensive.

So it all happens for a reason: someone want to bring our server down, on a friday night when you could expect a lot of players to come online under normal circumstances.
As our server is fairly high ranked on at least PMC, it is likely that it is a server of the same kind. They want to bring our server down, so more people will come to theirs.
Therefore, I suggest you all to stay off similar servers (especially if there's another teamPvP LOTR server). If they don't see the increase in playercount on their own server, they might get tired of spending money and stop DDOSing us. :)

Ya we done, plus they're asleep over in Europe right now. I suspect it will be some time before the server is back

It has happened before, Beep. My general experience with DDOSers is that they do it for up to a week (unless they're insane), enough to steal all players they'll ever be able to steal. Our best weapon against it is to stay true to the server.

In short a DDOS is distributed denial of service.
A bunch of idiots with spare time decide to spam the server with hits and running it slow making it pretty much unbearable to play or to shut it down completely.
