Range Of Beyond
Prologe
Kallak slipped through the bushes, her paws slipping on the cold ice. The rattling behind her made her shake,
and she almost tumbled over her paws. She turned her head around, spotting the others behind her. She
looked up at the shining night sky. "Oh Mountain Spirits, please help us whereever you are." She whispered,
kept on, breathing hard.
Chapter One
Sorry!
The wind whirled around, making a small whistleing sound. She woke up, her stomach growling.
She padded out of the small den, careful not to step on her brother's fluffy tail. She placed her paws
into the soft grass. She opened her mouth in the air to sniff the beautiful scent of flowers. Sudenly, she
fell down into the grass with a thump. "Hey!" She screached, knocking her brother off. He giggled.
"Sorry Kallak. It was just so finny!" He yapped in laughter. Kallak flexed her tiny paws. "We'll see who
laughs last!" She roared, jumping onto Minac's small body. They rolled down the hill. They rolled all the way
down, and Kallak could see the river a few pawlengths away. She yowled, trying to get untangled. She felt her
body being lifted up. She turned her head when she was dropped. Her mother was standing infront of her,
and her expression was not delightful. "You could have been killed!" She growled. "That river is NOT a play river!"
She started pacing. "Next time, watch were you cubs play!" She spat. Then, Nica went back to the den, shaking
her fluffy tail. Minac padded up behind her. She almost didn't even see his small wolf body coming up. "Wow." He
sighed. "She realy takes it serious. She was so mad at us, and you started it!" Kallak turned her head to stare
into his green eyes. "I started it? Your the one who rolled onto me!" She yapped. "Well, maybe you should
watch where YOU roll us into!" Minac growled, his fur starting to bristle in anger.
"I did NOT get us in troulble."
"Did too"
"Did not"
"DID TOO"
"DID NOT" They started howling.
Nica leaped out. "Quiet, both of you! I've had enough!" She grabbed our scruff's and carried us in.
Kallak sat in the grass, her fluffy tail moving around. "Nothing to do." She said to herself. "Hmmmm.
Oohh! Maybe mom will let us go to Lilac and hear a story!" She bounded to her paws and ran over to Nica.
"Nica Nica Nica Nica Nica Nica NICA!!!" She yowled. Nica stepped out. "Quiet down please Kallak. Yes?"
"Sorry." She mumbled. "I was just wondering if we could go hear a story from Lilac." Nica stared for a moment.
"I don't know.." Nica sighed. She thought for a moment. "Alright. But not long, I have to teach you guys later."
She said, getting to her paws. Before Kallak could say 'Thank you', Minac bounded up, hopping. "OOOOHHH
THANK YOU THANK YOU OOOOOOHHHHHMMM" He yelped in exitement. Kallak rolled her eyes. "Come on,
lets go!" Nica called, leaping out of the den.
Chapter Two
Story Time Shivers
They padded through the soft grass. Kallak's pelt started shivering when a cold breeze hit her. She could tell by
how Minac's expression was he got hit, too. She snapped to attention when she heard Nica. "Whitebare is coming."
She sighed, shivering. Kallak stared at her mother and then Minac. "Our first Whitebare..." She tried to picture it.
"Yes. And its going to be hard."Nica snapped her to attention. Minca stared. "How hard?" He asked, his voice shaking.
Nica turned. "Hard Hard. Not much food, snow on the ground, ha-" Kallak cut her off. "Whats snow?" She asked.
"Well, its white drops that fall from the sky and cover the ground." She answered. Kallak looked up. -Wow.- She thought
They reached the caves where Lilac took home, and padded through carefully. Nica had her tail curled around Minac
to keep him still. Nica stopped to sit down, letting Kallak go get her. She padded into the dark cave, the coldness making
her shiver. She spotted Lilac's dark black wolf coat, and prodded her with a stiff paw. "Lilac," She begin, "We came here
for a story, if you don't mind." Lilac looked at her, then nodded. "Okay. Is Nica and Minac here?" She asked. Kallak nodd-
ed, calling them over with a small howl. Minac ran over, while Nica followed close behind. They curled altogether, pushing
their pelts together to get warm. Lilac then begin the story. "Once there was a small white wolf. She had the power of
swift in her paws. She ran and ran and ran all day, and she ALWAYS beat others in a race. But one day, it was night.
The dark seemed to be scarier then ever because of the howls and stomps in the air. She had heard a crack, and she ran.
She ran and ran, but the wierd animal was gaining on her. She stared up at the sky, which showed no stars on her.
The great Wolf Spirits had shown it was time by crashing a tree on them both. It was her time to face her power in the
clouds." She finished. Kallak shivered at the end. She didn't like the ending or being told of someone dieing. But she knew
when she was older she would have to face it, because she was a strong, brave wolf.
