I wouldn't be surprised honestly. Quite how such a small section of the military tried to take over is quite bizarre. And look now - he has even more reason to take power away from the military (who have acted many times in the past as defenders of the secular republic against Islam), and even more reason to consolidate power in himself (in the name of stability).
