Why would there be no way he pirated the game? I mean, apart from the fact that he could not have pirated the game because it was so bad (since he didn't KNOW the game before he played it, quite obviously), it is not that hard to get your hands on a game. I mean from what you told us, he did not say he hacked into STEAM to get the game...

Steam is very hard to pirate, correct me on this but its very strange if some average person on the internet is able to pirate a game from steam, maybe like some expert but not your average joe can do that kind of things, Also, The Game basicly tells you what its about in the title and everything, and people complain about the graphics why tf did you not bother watching the trailer or something before buying? Also, they don't understand that 1, the dev was a 1 guy with help from a friend making a game, not some company so he can't make good graphics, 2, the story is the main part of the game, its gained so much popularity for that and people decide to criticise it as a horrible game because they judged at the cover of the book. But yeah, there is a way he pirated a game but I REALLY dobut it, looking at his account he doesnt seem to be a guy who knows about steam at all, heck, he might of not known the game was even on steam.

As I said, he might not have pirated it from STEAM. Also, why would a guy not be capable of making good graphics, just because he is one person? Do some modelling on Unity Editor or Blender and that's that. There are quite a few games with acceptable or, for that matter, good graphics which were made by a small group of people or even just one guy. There are also prelays for 3D/2D high-res games on Unity / Blender, where you basically get a set of room presets and stuff and then change color and looks, without having to make the whole thing from scrap.

Few things I forgot to mention 1: Its ONLY on steam(Well there is a demo but thats free and doesn't have the rest of the game) 2: He also wanted to it to be nostalgic game for old games like "earthbound" and other 8bit pixel games 3: He was on only on a $2,000 budget and promised to make it a 8bit pixel game(turned out to get $70,000), but he already developed that game and people expected that(Would be upsetting for some people if they didn't get what they donated for) so that's why probably continued with the pixel art style.
