Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell. Heaven is where you go if your soul is clean of sin. Purgatory is where you go if your soul had sin, but you still believed in heaven and God and were faithful. It is a place of healing, to be ready for Heaven. Hell is a place for people who have sinned, for people who have denied God. Is this what you mean?

my religion believes in basically 3 kingdoms of heaven and outer darkness is considered hell. basically believers who are married & live righteous lives go to the first best kingdom of heaven. then decent good people go to the second kingdom of heaven. then murderers and criminals go to the third kingdom of heaven. the only way to go to outer darkness is if you basically deny god after you had faith in him. which means only believers have the choice of going to hell which I find kind of funny.

Everyone is guilty for treason against God, so we are all being sent to burn for eternity in hell for our crimes. But God loves us, so he allowed his son to take the blame for the crimes, and die the most horrendous death, so that we won't have to burn. But, Death could not hold him. He arose, and now is seated on the right side of God, vouching for us. Any who can swallow their pride and trust in God to save us, will be saved from this eternal pain and sorrow and be with God

There are heaven and hell, and the... "qualifications" for both, so to speak, aren't quite as legalistic as some would have you believe. Heaven is not a place you go for doing good things or being a "good" person. There are a few different things (and I'm simplifying it for the sake of not putting up a (bigger) wall of text): - Actual belief in God. Of course, this is not a "get-out-of-hell-free card". - Faith/trust in god and his plans/provisions for you. GENUINE, might I add. - A relationship with God, as opposed to legalistic obedience. Hell, on the other hand, is simply where those who don't meet the same standards go. - Nominal "believers" who make a big public scene about it yet don't practice (or even believe, in some cases) what they "preach".... This is what you'll get from a lot of "charismatic" churches. - Legalistic people who do good works... but there's no righteous motivation or conviction behind anything they do. It's sort of the spiritual equivalent of only being good because it'll net you something in return (such as salvation). - People who sin, ask for forgiveness... and continue along the same path anyways. Like I said before, God's forgiveness and Christ's sacrifice is not a "get-out-of-hell-free card". "Oh, this is wrong, but God forgives me and I'm going to heaven anyways...." Yeaaaaaah that's not how it works, bud. - Your average batch of nonbelievers (atheists, members of other religions, etc.) Now, you might claim that this is harsh, but I'll remind you that getting to heaven is not just a matter of being "good" from your own perspective. It is a matter of faith in God, knowing his word and knowing HIM. - Syncretics. You can't have more than one god. It doesn't work. Granted, there's a difference between traditions and scriptural law, but you can't have two different gods. There is God/Christ. Nothing else. Another point in the bible itself is breaking down your own idols (such as prioritization of your own entertainment/selfish desires/carnal desires over God). I could try and go i

On another note: Picking and choosing which bits of the Bible you're going to follow also doesn't work. It's as good as all or nothing.

Also, Christ's sacrifice combined with your own genuine faith in God and relationship with him essentially wipes your record of every infraction from the little things to the major issues absolutely clean.

On the matter of how heaven actually IS? Well... There's some things that are known, and some things are probably beyond our own comprehension. Some of the safer bets are: - No Sin. - No Diseases/Injury/Pain/Impediments - Essentially a much nicer place than this earth.

You judt strengthened my atheism by saying I'm going to hell

It's never too late, man. There's not all that much of a time limit involved, really. Granted, half-assing it right before you die isn't helping your chances, but still.

Well, it doesn't exactly make sense for somebody who doesn't even believe in God-given salvation from sin and death to just get a free pass into heaven anyways, now does it? There's some responsibility involved, you know!

Being religious depends on upbringing, not responsibility.

Er, no. There is a responsibility to yourself to building a solid relationship with God, knowing the word of God, and conducting yourself in a biblical manner (although as we are all sinners, nobody's really perfect. Luckily Christ solved that little issue on the cross...). Furthermore, there is the responsibility to raise your children in a biblical manner, teach them the truth of God, and tell others the truth of God.
