Well, it is part of human nature. We tend to make jokes about everything. So we can't do anything about it honestly. We are even making it worse if you look at it in a certain way.
So you are telling me you don't find Holocaust jokes funny Tim? Or starving-kids-in-Africa-jokes? I call that some hipocritical bullshit. Just because something just happened, that does not mean it deserves less jokes. There are no boundaries to humor. Also, making jokes about dead people doesn't mean you disrespect them! We don't make jokes about dead jews because we are disrespecting them, we make jokes about it because it is funny. And why is it funny? Because it shouldn't be the way it is. In said case, killing jews because they are jews in some quite brutal ways is absolutely irrational and weird, and thus funny. It is not (necessarily) a disrespect to joke about dead, it is an underlining of the fact that they are dead.
Not everything is funny. But every topic has certain aspects to it that are funny. For instance, if I say "A grandma fell down the stairs.", that is not inherently funny (at least not to me), it is a rather blant statement. But someone could certainly crack a good joke about it that would be funny. It is not inhumane to joke about a bombing that happened recently, just as it isn't inhumane to joke about anything else. The only inhumane thing is to make a bad joke.
