Old sword from 1500s Novgorod, very well-maintained, reforged a few times. Broadsword, basically.

It can a bitch and a half to maintain sometimes, I'm thinking about getting a real expensive case to put it in.

you should put in above your mantel in a regular glass case

Got any tips for sword maintenance? My sidesword (?) got quite the layer of rust regardless of what I tried.

Sandpaper might work, or some rust-removing oil

Also, a metal bristle brush can do a number on rust

Post a picture of the historical sword afterwards please. And provide us with information about it's past and your ancestors. I'm into that shit. In fact being on holiday in ukraine, i've found some information about my own ancestors in the times of war.

I can do the latter, but no picture. Family tradition to only reveal it to those whom are close to us. Outside of like my closest friends, I have only showed one person it.
