Where'd you pull that percentage out of? I'm actually curious because with the high percentage of LGBT in America I'm highly doubtful that, that percentage wouldn't mean that 20-30% of Americans die from suicide. I know that suicide is now the 10th largest contributor of death in America. If 40% of LGBT were to commit suicide then suicide would take one of the top 3 causes of death. I'm really hoping that percentage isn't a world percentage because that'd make it much more inaccurate as in most countries people won't actually say they're LGBT or not.

And if it were to be a U.K percentage then that'd guarantee that suicide is the first or second at the very least cause of death. I've never trusted world average percentages and for most national averages I'm even a little iffy with. The smaller the area that was averaged the better. For example, a small town average where everyone knows everything about just everyone is more accurate than a city where everyone doesn't really know anyone except the small circle of people they hang out with. Now since it's something as widespread as the LGBT community, I'm not trusting enough that they can even get a close estimate of the actual percentage of how many people are homosexual, and I'm even less inclined to believe that they can get the cause of death percentage of the LGBT community. Especially, since you have to divide the number of suicide related deaths of the LGBT community by the total amount of LGBT in a given area.

^^ So what you're saying is that it's more of lust than love?

love is what causes it. it's who and what you find attractive. there's no biological explanation to it.

There are a lot of people there that are legitimately homosexual, but I believe that modern-day social and media influences are affecting young teens who are still searching for their identity. Yes, you could find an individual of the same sex hot or cute - we're all humans and we show love towards one another. In fact, from an evolutionary standpoint, there are certain features that are appealing such as facial symmetry and such because it is viewed as being "healthy". And yes, you are able to love someone of the same gender. It's just like how you love your parents unconditionally(most people I would assume), but you wouldn't marry them or even bang them and etc. I'm not sure if it's the same for the guys, but the girls that I know are extremely close with each other but not in a homo way. We could find each other attractive and voice it out with a mutual understanding that we're all straight. But when the media tells young children about homosexuality, they may mistake storge(familial love) and philia(love between good friends) for being LGBT+. Quite frankly, we were all more loving and accepting of everyone when we were younger. Plus, when they label themselves as a certain "type", they may convince themselves further, if that makes sense. (the terminology is on the top of my head, but I can't seem to recall it... it's like a placebo effect but that's not the right word for it... someone please let me know if you know the word pls). Also, as 16638848 mentioned above, it is also true that there is a lot of attention given to the LGBT+ in recent years, and that's not a bad thing. But it is also unfortunately true that it brings out those people who just claim that they are homo for the attention and to seem like a rebel. All in all, don't attack me lads , it's honestly such a sensitive thing to talk about in public and it's impossible to not offend anyone in 2018, however it is really interesting reading about everyone's views. I'm supportive of everyone because who are we to tell anoth

Well whether straight or gay there's going to be lust. Love and lust are connected after all. For example, there's no such thing as love at first sight. A more accurate term would be lust at first sight, it could turn into love but it starts as lust. Hell, love and lust are so similar that people actually get it confused all the time which is partially why the divorce rate is so high.

lmao yeah Im straight but I have an interesting background actually.... dont hurt me but I was actually homophobic for quite a while due to the culture that I was raised up in and the fact that my parents only told me about the horrible murders that involved gay people. My whole family is actually still homophobic. But then, I joined the online World and made a best friend who then came out to be gay. Of course, I love him so so much as a person, and that knowing that he was gay did not matter because that doesn't say anything about him as a person. So yes, I support LGBT representation, because if I didn't go on the internet, I would have still been homophobic due to being oblivious. So I just think that it's important to let people know that being homo doesn't really label how they are. Actually, my best friend irl of 6 years also turned out to be pansexual, and obviously, her choice of life didnt change the way I viewed her. But those influences also made me question myself too because I still love my family and most of my close friends, but at the end of the day, I came to the conclusion that it was more of my personality than my sexuality.

**i am bisexual but have actual facts** homosexuality is actually a neurological thing, but not necessarily a disease. Gay men tend to have less testosterone, gay women tend to have less estrogen.

I may answer that later, this shit is extremely long but let clear ma point. It's a defect due to the fact that if it was the norm the human race would never survive.

It's an endocrinological issue actually. Testosterone and oestrogen aren't in the brain. cx But yeah, I agree, and would definitely put it down to hormones.
?
!!!
Pre-reading other comments opinions: Hormones are a CORRELATION, NOT NECESSARILY implying causation. I think it's partially social factors, partially genetics, and partially just roll of the dice. I would write a few more paragraphs, but I need to go in a few minutes, so I'll add more to my opinion in a few hours..

If alabaster skin was the norm in Africa, or at least was when humans evolved there, we would never survive. Skin cancer rates over thousands of years, inability to be in the sun for too long, yada yada. Thus, alabaster skin is a defect? I wouldn't think so.
