I don't understand "pre" classes

I think there are no "pre" classes. I think Pre was part of the name of the course, like "burger king." There's nothing Kingly about it. It's just a name I guess.

Pre-algebra supposedly prepares you for Algebra 1. Pre algebra: *shoves horse bones down your throat* Algebra 1 if it didn't have pre algebra: *shoves horse bones down your throat*
