    I think Judge Kavanaugh did an admirable job, a powerful job, of defending his position, his innocence. And Senator Graham from my home state of SC, put it out there - what everyone knew, but had not voiced - about the Democrats using this forum to try and restore themselves to power. Judge Kavanaugh did a much better job presenting his case as credible over his accuser. C'mon.... the woman is a DOCTOR with a PhD, and DIDN'T know how to go about contacting her representatives? Please. While it is entirely possible Dr. Ford suffered some incident at some point in her life, I'm not convinced it was at the hands of Judge Kavanaugh.

    It’s actually a really deep and thought provoking piece, so go watch it if you haven’t.

    This is truly bad for our internet and for the world. Creativity and the spreading of information will be handicapped and tightly regulated because of the EU’s Article 13 rules. The content on the internet, especially on YouTube and social media will now be censored and controlled in a way that was not imagined before. Information, creativity and the profitability surrounding them will be under much greater control by the establishments and the wealthy as opposed to the average citizen. And the cultural impact of virality on the internet will never be what it once was when the internet was free. This will affect everyone that watches YouTube videos, has a YouTube channel, uses social media, and browses the internet. The EU has taken away some of the freedom and opportunity that has so far been available in the free world online. My feelings about the EU have been broken beyond repair and the impact these rules will have on our future and the generations to come is something we must realize. Perhaps one day the trend in taking away our freedoms of expression and creativity will be reversed.

    I can’t say it’s as simple as that when observing all the potential ramifications and how broadly they will affect people. The directive threatens Fair Use, which is based on the fundamental principle of free speech online. It goes beyond the question of what is qualitatively appropriate content and implies that you will not be able to use all of the creative elements currently available now for the purposes of expression, entertainment or intellectual stimuli. Worse than that, its a way to truly censor the internet and eliminate the cultural impact of virality. This has terrible implications as far as how governments and businesses will have greater control over the content available for viewing. The directive gives more creative and proprietary power to big establishments and less to the average person. It broadens the voice of the mighty and shrinks the voice of the small. It may give copyright holders more power but the consequences of its enforcement could break the concept of the internet as a global cybernetic collective entity. As far as censorship, things that are flagged as very offensive or bad are removed. There is already a system in place to address that. But if you take away the free internet, where does it stop? Does free speech get the axe next? I believe freedom of speech and expression should never be taken away, and it should not be taken away because some people disagree with others on an idealogical level. One group should not solely define what should and shouldn’t be. In a diverse multicultural world, there will be cultural aspects of some groups that end up being incompatible with others, and if the internet is to be a global international cybernetic collective entity, it should operate on the most universal principles, and not the EU’s supranationally handicapped version of what it should be.
