    The NFL officials did a horrifically bad job. It culminated with the championship game in New Orleans, the game decided by a blatant blown call at the end. Now there will be a tainted Super Bowl. I’m not watching this anymore.

    It makes sense. I have mixed feelings, because regardless of the outcome of a rematch, it’ll be controversial, by the result as well as in and of itself. But it’s still bullshit, tainted, and changes the course of history. The integrity of the game has been disrupted and now there is nothing they can do to fix it, so they’ll do nothing. Time and prevention of further issues like this by taking action to change the way calls are received and reviewed is the only way forward.

    Also, to make matters worse, the missed PI on Tommylee-Lewis was also an illegal helmet-to-helmet collision, a Personal Fowl. Two flags should have been thrown on the defender in that play. And to add even more, the league believes the play which took the ball away from the Saints in OT, which admittedly was both a bad play by the offense and a good one by the defense, was also Pass Interference, which again could have changed the game, although not as drastically as the first missed PI. As far as the missed facemask, there is no telling if the Rams would have scored a TD instead of a FG, only that time would have been shorter, just like there’s no telling if New Orleans would have scored a TD with 1st down and goal at the 6 had the penalty been called. If both teams had done those things, New Orleans still wins. And for what it’s worth, that missed call was less obvious, very quick. That one is missed all the time and there was no pulling, only a quick grab and release. The first missed PI was as obvious and unquestionable as it gets. In fact considering he was pushed off his feet and to the ground out of bounds, the defender in his face facing away from the play, and the ball still ten yards away and obviously not tipped. It was a ridiculous pass interference, pass interference on steroids. It was actually a terrible move by the defender and he did so because he was beat.

    So you’ve got 1 questionable missed call on NO, 1 on LA and 2 obvious missed calls on LA, one of them ridiculously obvious and an absolutely crucial game changing moment. And although I don’t agree with the new rules on roughing the passer, that could have even been called on the play that took the ball away in OT, adding up to 4 game changing missed calls on LA.

    Same problem here. We get a lot of snow in northern Utah. You should all of the drivers with california plates trying to get up the ski resort on a powder day and end up in the embankment with their 2 wheel drive cars.
