A necessary change for reports.

Hello all,

As you may have guessed, this thread is going to talk about how forum reports need to change (YA DON'T SAY?).

First off, is the "No-posting-on-reports" rule still even active? There are many reports and many people still discussing on them. I totally agree with this, the only person who should be the judge of the punishment is the mature and experienced mods, NOT biased players.
This is totally reasonable, but there could be a minor tweak to this rule, if it even is still being enforced...
Let the people involved have their share of the story.
Simple as it is, let the accused and the accuser explain in grandiloquent detail of their predicament (this would be mostly for flame-war related reports such as an argument between to players).
This would allow a more precise knowledge on what actually happened so therefor the accused gets the proper punishment.

With this being said, I believe mods also have to enforce people posting on reports who were not involved in the situation whatsoever, they may have an opinion, but it is irrelevant and most likely biased and non helpful for the purpose of the report.

"Phew" *Wipes forhead
It has been said.

EDIT: I posted this just because this gets on my nerves a lot ._.

The number of times staff have said that they would actually enforce the rule the next time it happened is through the roof, while the number of times they've enforced it, well, that's zero. All it would take is a few bans here and there and then everybody would stop doing it. People do it because they know it's not enforced.

I say that the reported victim gets to reply once, and the reporter can make a rebuttal. There should be no other people able to reply anything. Then after the 2 people have said their side of the argument or flaws in the report, then a mod can look at it and make the final decision.

I also suggest adding like a Warning-point system, so people that doesnt get banned could get like 1/5 warning points for being rude, then getting a mute/ban.

they can get like 1-3 points depending on the situation and "level" of the "crime"

if they reach 5 again after that, its perm.

punishments were being handed out for a while for posting on reports. but they were temp banning everybody on the forums so they just kind of faded that rule out shortly after it was made.

Actually, when Titan was still a mod, he banned people for it. Of course, they stopped posting on the reports when it was enforced, but they continued as before when he stopped enforcing it.

And I'm not a fan of enforcing some rule I don't really see the point in anyways.

It's currently too ingrained in the sad thing called EW 'culture' to be remedied and strictly enforced. It's more of a minor hindrance on the mod viewing the report, and EW reports are not very intensive on the mind in terms of sifting through proof.

Would it not be easier on reports, though? I mean it is more efficient and a more accurate punishment would be considered.

Why would it be more efficient and accurate? I mean, I just look at the original post, what the reporter has to say, and what the defender has to say. Perhaps I sometimes look at a smart comment as well. But I ignore the rest. It would be more efficient to ignore those posts rather than to remove them and give some people punishments.

This was a screenshot from a post by tibbles 3 hours ago :3

You are right, it would be an efficient way to remove those posts, but the thing is that some comments are unnecessary, and sometimes quite unprofessional. It is just for the sake of keeping it as short as possible and more professional overall.
