Part 1: Lost in the Snow

The snow billowed around the party like a group of ghosts barn dancing. The nearest settlement was close, according to the maps, however the snow turned the world into a plain sheet, making it impossible to see more than a foot in front of your face. Joe’s black cloak billowed in the wind behind him, and the gem in the centre of his chest still shone bright, as testament to the lord of light's power. Osypiw’s thin elven garments barely shielded him against the cold, but his elven blood gave him the stamina to resist the biting cold. Md’s beard caught snow flakes like a spider’s web, so where once it had been a rippling, golden ocean of hair, now it more resembled a baby polar bear nuzzling into his neck. Lazeekat was probably best prepared for the cold, as she had dressed in thick firs, so that she resembled something somewhere between a Stark and a horde of disgruntled foxes.

‘We have to get to shelter!’
Lazee called from the front of the group, as they trecked in single file through the snow.
‘If we knew where shelter was!’
Grumbled MD from the back, shaking his beard to dislodge the snowdrift that had formed there. Osypiw pulled a map from his cloak, and struggled to steady it against the ever-worsening blizzard.
‘Forward! If we keep going forward it should be about 300 yards in front of us!’
The quartet strode boldly onward through the waves of white that bombarded them. Their mission had been to retrieve a package that had landed far out in the wilderness, and they had been mostly successful until this point.
‘’Do you still have that blasted thing Joe?’
Called MD from the back of the column.
‘Aye I do!’
Joe reached a hand into his pocket and brandished a small object wrapped around with leather.

Suddenly the swirling storm came to a sudden stop. The sky echoed on above, stars stretching to infinity.
‘I do not like this.’
Muttered MD. His hand reaching for the bow on his back. Something was moving up there in the darkness, something dark and terrible, and heading at tremendous speed towards the party. It struck the ground with the force of a truck. The ground cracked around it and the party was thrown back into the snow.
‘WHAT THE F**K.’
Joe cried in surprise as he climbed from the snow, in a state of shock. The object was a portal. A glowing purple portal, standing in the field, as bold as brass. Something was emerging through the portal. A human figure, but twisted and moulded into the body of an animal. As it neared is became apparent that it was a man on horseback. He was clad in diamond gear that glistened like stars in the night. In his hand he held a glittering blue sword and in his other hand he held a small, black device.

The party steadied themselves after the initial shock of the portal’s impact.
‘And who the F**k do you think you are?’
Called Joe, an tone of annoyance in his voice. The man was silent as he raised his blade, kicked his horse, and galloped at full speed towards them. Joe was first to step forward. He drew lightbringer with a dramatic flourish and raised it before him to block the swing of the rider’s sword. The two blades met with a resounding CLANG! And Joe staggered back. The rider slowed to a trot behind him, and turned to make another charge at the party. Md raised his bow and took a shot at the rider. The shaft pierced his shining blue armour but this seemed to have no effect of the rider.

The rider came at them again. Osy span his blade in typical elven fashion, Lazee drew her blade and pulled her arms back to swing the great two-handed weapon. Joe was back on his feet, lightbringer at the ready. Md drew two sharp throwing axes, and as the rider charged, the party leapt into action. Md’s axe flew into the horse’s breast and the animal cried in pain, its body twisting and writhing into the ground. Osy’s blade span to decapitate the tortured animal. Lazee and Joe leapt forward to finish the rider, but as soon as the snow had settled the rider was back on his feet, his sword raised to block both their strikes. The rider flung them off as if they weighed nothing. Quickly they scrambled to their feet, ready to resume combat, but suddenly an unmistakable noise pierced the quiet night.

The groan and creak of a TARDIS materialising echoed through the night, as the whole party turned to see the blue box open, and iwasnumber4 to poke his head out.
‘What the heck is going on here?’
He called from across the clearing. In response to this new interruption, the rider raised the device, pushed buttons on its surface, and the unmistakable fizzle of TNT was heard by all. The party looked up and saw the flashing white cubes begin to fall from the sky.
‘RUN!’
Iwas cried, and the party took heed. The bolted for the TARDIS, but as soon as they began their sprint, the rider leapt for them in pursuit. The first wave of explosions rang around them as the ground was torn apart. Joe leapt a spinning boulder as it flew across his path. Md ducked as splinters from annihilated trees flew past his face. The TARDIS got nearer and nearer. 50 yards, 30, 10.

As the final wave of explosions echoed behind him, Joe leapt into the blue box, swiftly followed by MD and Lazee. He turned to see Osy following suit, only to watch as he was stopped mid-leap, and yanked back to where the rider stood, clutching his cloak. Osy yelled in defiance, and writhed, seeking freedom. The rider began to advance on the small blue box, dragging osy behind him. As he was about the enter, the doors swung shut.
“OSY!’
Joe cried in shock and rage.
‘We have to go back and get him!’
Joe ran for the doors, a defiant look staining his face, until iwas grabbed him by the shoulder.
‘Joe, we’re already gone.
‘No!’
Joe pushed iwas to the floor, and ripped the doors open to see the time vortex spiralling before him. He swung the doors shut again, and sank to his knees in despair. Lazee and MD came to his side.
‘I promise you Joe, we will get him back.’
Lazee said soothingly.
‘Aye, she’s right, we’re gonna get that one back. And teach that diamond prick a lesson and all!’
Joe rose to his feet, tears could be seen streaking his face.
‘So be it.’
Joe strode from the main control room, his head raised as if to defy the truth. As he strode to the door, he fell to the floor, and yelped in pain. He looked down to see a long, bloody splinter extending from his abdomen. MD rushed to him, and he and Lazee carried him to a bed I the sickbay, where they left the TARDIS’s systems to get to work. Iwas pulled levers and pushed buttons at the main control panel, and MD and Lazee walked over to him.

‘What the hell was that.’
Md questioned bluntly.
‘That, was a hacker.’
Iwas looked tense and on-edge.
‘I thought we had something to deal with these people?’
Lazee and MD looked up at iwas, expecting a simple answer.
‘We did, but as you can see, it didn’t work. I came here as soon as I felt the disturbance. Something has gone terribly wrong.
‘So what are we supposed to so now?’
‘Head back to Tim, and find out what we’re supposed to do next.’
LAzee and MD head off to go check on Joe, as the small blue craft span though time and space.

Meeting The King

The TARDIS landed in the citadel of Minas Tirith, in front of the white tree. Iwas and Lazee helped Joe from the TARDIS into the houses of healing. The shrapnel was removed from his torso, but blood still stained his cloak and he was still sipping on a regeneration potion. The head healer met them at the doors.
‘Oh, Iwasnumber4, you are most welcome here…’
The man stuttered and stammered as he swiftly knelt before the moderator.
‘It’s OK Dima, rise!.’
The man got to his feet and dusted off his tunic.
‘Thank you my lord, but with all due respect, how did you know my name?’
‘You hold a position of great importance here in the city friend, I found it prudent to make sure I knew your name!’
‘Oh course your grace. Ah yes! I see you have an injured man, bring him in!.’
The party shuffled into the bright and open area that was the houses of healing. The windows were all open, and sunlight shone through the thin white cloth that covered the windows. Birds could be heard chirping outside, and the wind blew freely through the building, creating a peaceful, calming atmosphere.
‘Set him down here!’

When Lazee and Iwas departed from the houses of healing, they caught MD running down towards them. He stopped when he reached them, bent double, panting.
‘Tim…Says…Speak…’
MD caught is breath and then straightened up to give them the message.
‘Tim wants to talk to us, up in the citadel.’
The trio set off at haste to the citadel. On the way up, the passed stalls and markets. They glistened with bright and brilliant fruit, strange delicacies from elven lands. On the road ahead, to figures in green stood at a stall. One passed the keeper 2 silver coins, and the both took a shining red fruit from the stall. They turned to see the trio moving through the market, and approached. As the figures approached, the removed their green hoods. Beneath one was the dull blonde hair of Wacko, and below the other shone the bright elven hair of Yanar.
‘Ho friends, where are you striding to with such haste?’
Wacko questioned the trio. Lazee replied first.
‘We’re heading up to the citadel to speak with Tim.’
‘The Tibblator himself? Well, we were on a similar venture, we have interesting findings to report, from the outskirts of Ithilien.’
‘Let us walk together then friends.’
As the group walked, Yanar and Wacko were informed of the bizarre events that had unfolded, Osypiw’s capture, Joe’s injury, and the mysterious rider who had somehow hacked the server.

By the time they arrived at the citadel, the tale was told to it’s fullest. As they approached the doors, the guards stood to attention. As the entered the hall, the saw Tim perched in his high throne.
‘Your grace.’
The group kneeled before their king.
‘Rise, and speak.’
Tim responded sternly, and the group got to their feet.
‘I believe that you have something interesting to tell me Iwas?’
‘Yes your grace, I do. I detected a problem with the server, and I departed in my TARDIS to give it a look. When I arrived I found these two, and two others trying to fight against a hacker who had somehow infiltrated. I rescued them and brought them back here.’
‘You have done well.’
Tim stepped down from his throne and walked over to a table at the side of the room. He then proceeded to pick up an apple from a bowl and take a large bite from it. As Tim loudly indulged himself in the apple, and man entered the room from a side door. He wore a white toga that left most of his chest bare, as well as a glittering silver drown. He seemed to shine with an unearthly brilliance. In is hand he held a small black device, just like the one the hacker had wielded.

‘Tim! I’ve pinpointed the exact spot when the hacker entered the system!’
The man hurried towards Tim, and Tim turned to greet him.
‘Only! Show me this.’
Only_God thrust the device toward him, and Tim took it from him to observe the activity on the screen.
‘Mother of God…’
The group still stood in the centre of the room, and watched this exchange with mild curiosity.
‘It’s like our systems don’t see him as a hack, just as part of the game…’
Lazee looked around at her colleagues who looked equally bemused.
‘What are we going to do next Tim?
Only God looked at Tim, a concerned look in his eyes.
‘Only, get me a direct visual on the scene of the attack.’
Only tapped some buttons on the screen and a blurry image appeared.
‘The portal’s still there... You rangers, step forward.’
Wacko and Yanar stepped forward.
‘Are you not sworn into my service?’
‘We are your grace.’
‘Good. I want you to do something quite dangerous.’

I thought I'd bring this story back with a little update!

Ranging

The portal shone and pulsed ahead of Wacko and Yianni, almost beckoning them closer towards it's purple, shining depths. IWas clapped them both on the back.
'Well Lads, best get going now hey?'
'I'm not sure about this, it seems overly risky.' Wacko questioned with a hint of fear in his eyes.
'Tim's a risky guy you know, does risky stuff.'
'That doesn't really console...'
Yianni and Wacko stepped further towards the portal. IWas called after them just before they entered it's murky, purple depths.
'Oh, and remember, if it gets a bit frisky in there, I can't help you!'
'What?!' Wacko turned back at the last minute to shout at IWas.
'SO we're just supposed to die in the-' His speech was cut off as Yianni grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, and yanked him through the portal.

The world spun in a haze of purple and black. The ground shifted beneath Wacko like liquid. He kicked out, trying to swim through the haze, but couldn't resist the tug of someone invisible current pulling him down into the magenta ocean. The light began to fade as he sunk deeper, drowning in the darkness until, he felt the ground beneath him. He toppled out of the other side of the portal, landing with a crash in the dirt. Wacko and Yianni had arrived in a forest. Wacko looked around for sight of civilisation, and his eyes landed on a glittering city in the distance.
'Wow...'
The noise slipped out of Wacko's lips unconsciously, as he saw the shining beauty of the structures that stood ahead of him. They shone like stars in the night, like a thousand fires in the sky. Yianni too was in awe of the structures.
'Well, I guess we know where we're going next...'
Yianni and Wacko set off towards the city, it's shining brilliance still burning into their retinas.

The dorset stopped where the outskirts of the city began. These houses had non of the brilliance the shone from the towers in the city centre. They were ordinary, wood and brick dwellings. People bustled through the streets, but they were dressed differently, in shirts, jeans and jackets. Wacko and Yianni looked out of place in their green ranger garments. People gave them odd looks as they tried to move through the city un-noticed. Above them ran a great mine cart rail, supported by mighty stone pillars. Carts ran to and fro across it, faster than the fastest horse.
'Compared to our home, this all seems a bit...'
'Fancy?'
'Yeah, you could say that...' Wacko was in awe of the buildings around him, and also slightly jealous. Suddenly, his eye caught on a strange, dark figure in the corner of the street. He nudged Yianni, who quickly noticed the person. More figures began to emerge from the shadows around them. Wacko fiddled with the hilt of his dagger, ready to draw it swiftly if necessary. He never got the chance. A sharp pain in his leg was followed by a dizzying nausea. He looked down, and saw the red plume of a dart in the side of his leg.

He awoke in a dark room. He moved his legs, but discovered that his hands were bound behind his back. He looked around to find that he was alone in the dark room, accept for a man standing by the door. He wore dark green military dress. He strode out of the shadows as he saw Wacko stirring.
'You'll imagine how awkward a situation this is for us, you being the second visitor from this other server, with seemingly hostile intent.'
'Hostile intent?' Wacko's ire flamed inside him.
'We took a stroll through your streets and got shot in the leg! Your the hostile ones here!'
'Thats not what your previous intrusion told us.'
'What previous intrusion?'
'The hacker who came in full armour, wielding a diamond sword, destroying buildings willy-nilly with flying TNT!'
'That was you!'
'Why would we destroy our own land?'
'No, he came to our-'
'BULLSH*T!' The man yelled, and interrupted Wacko with a powerful blow to the face.
'Now your gonna' tell me exactly how many of you there are, and how you plan on attacking us next time, or I'll hit you again!'
'We're not going to attack you!'
The man struck Wacko again.
'Oh ho ho..' Wacko chuckled.
'If its gonna' be like that...' Wacko slipped a small round orb from his sleeve, and grasped it in his hand.
'I don't think I'll tell you anything.' And with that, Wacko tossed the enderpearl to the other side of the room.

The pearl shattered with a puff of purple smoke and Wacko reappeared on the other side of the room. The man wheeled to face him, but wasn't quick enough. Wacko's boot was planted squarely into his face, and he fell back onto the floor. Wacko then turned his attention to the door, that the man had left unlocked. Wacko tore it open, and strode out ingot he hallway. A door opened opposite him, and another man, in the same military dress strode out, but was unprepared for Wacko's brutal assault, and was left sprawling in the corridor. Inside the room, still tied to a chair was Yianni.
'Alright mate?' Wacko asked, a playful grin on his face.
'What the hell is going on here?' Yianni retorted.
'I have absolutely no idea...'
Wacko untied the bonds holding Yianni, and the two moved silently to the end of the corridor. The took weapons from the guards.

Together the two made their way to the building's exit. The glass panels on the front of the building glittered like the buildings outside. So far, their had been few guards, but that changed as armed men marched into the hall, surrounding Wacko and Yianni.
'Drop your weapons, or we will use lethal force!'
'It's Ok, we surrender!' Yianni called to the soldiers. Wacko looked at him horrified, but was pushed to the ground by a burly soldier. Their captain strode towards them, and removed his helmet.
'Well hello there!' The man greater them cheerily, even though they were both pinned to the ground.
'And who the hell are you then?' The man wore thin leather armour, and wielded a spear.
'Most people call me lemon, my real name is Joe, but lemon is fine.'
'Joe? I know a Joe...'
Lemon kneeled next to where Wacko was pinned, and spoke quietly to them.
'Before the boss comes back, and has you both shot, just tell me, what's this all about?'
'Let me stand up and I might tell you.'
'Haha! I'm not the foolish. You can speak down their can't you?'
'Suppose so, here, listen close...'
Lemon leaned in close the Wacko, and Wacko whispered in his ear...
'OH HELLO THERE'

Well, he screamed it in his ear actually. The guards jumped at the sudden loud noise, and that gave the two rangers the chance they needed. Before the guard on top of him could react, Wacko had twisted and planted his boot in the man' gut, severely wounding him. Yianni did the same, and they were free. They bolted for the the glass doors, but they both heard the unmistakeable *click* of redstone locking shut. The momentum kept Wacko moving, and the rangers leapt through the glass, shattering it into fragments. The bolted through the streets, but were followed by the guards, swords drawn. Above them ran the mine cart rail.
'UP!' Called Yianni, and the two men scrambled up the pillars, using the intricate details engraved in the stone as handholds. They clambered up onto the tracks, and leapt into an empty mine cart as it passed them. The mine cart sped towards where the pair had first entered the city, they were close to escaping.

When the mine cart reached the end of its rail, the pair leapt out. The edge of the forest was mere yards in front of them.
'Oh, hello there.' Called a voice from behind them, and there stood Lemon, spear shining in the sun. He span it intricately, as his fellow guardsmen advanced on the pair. Behind him, Wacko heard twigs snapping, and turned to see more guardsmen cutting off their escape.
'You really can't escape you know.'
'Oh really?'
Wacko stood defiant in the face of the his immanent death, dagger drawn, when he heard another noise from behind him. Soft, but growing louder.
'You!'
The call came from the deep forest, in the direction of the portal.
'Are!
The guards began to look uneasy.
'Not!'
The sound could not be more then 50 yards away now.
'PREPARED!'
With that, arrows sprouted from the necks of the guards nearest the woodland. From the bushes leapt a man in simple dress, wielding a bow with two arrows strung. He fired, and both the arrows found a mark. Two more guards dropped dead.
'Hello boys.' The man spoke calmly.
'Anzra!' Exclaimed Wacko as he recognised the man.
'Hey Wacko, nice to meet you. Don't you think we best be leaving now?'
With that, he fired a few more arrows at the guardsmen, and together, he, Wacko and yianni made a break for the portal, followed hastily by Lemon and his guardsmen.
