Currently, whenever a new player joins, they instantly get teleported into the tutorial, in which they can't move until they follow the instructions.
However, if a new player who does not speak English (well enough) joins, they are, metaphorically speaking, completely fucked: they can't move and they can't read what to do.
I've noticed more than a few times that new players join, decide they have no idea what's going on, and then leave again.
I think it's a fair estimate to say that the average non-native English speaker under 13 will not be able to understand completely what they have to do without asking for help, especially if they're from a non-Western-European country.
Therefore, I propose that we implement a new system. My idea is the following:
I suggest that, instead of teleporting the player into a room where they can't move at all, they get teleported to a hallway with arrows pointing to a pad (made of gold pressure plates for example). Once they enter the pad, they will be prompted to follow the tutorial by one of those clickable chest pop-ups, as well as a clickable command in the chat. If they choose to follow the tutorial, they will be teleported to the current tutorial. If they do not, they will be teleported to the lobby where they can figure things out for themselves. Additionally, it could be set up so that only players who complete the tutorial get the 250 points, but if that's too much work, just leave that part out.
Any variation of this is fine, as long as the player has to make the conscious decision whether to follow the tutorial or not.
This way, hopefully, new players will not be completely stuck anymore if they don't understand what's going on in the tutorial.
I edited the post, but the poll was at 4 'agree' and 4 'agree partially, but changes needed...'
