How to count
In this guide, you will get a short introduction to how to know what values you set in your BB-codes for colours, which you can also read more about in this thread.
You are most certainly familiar with counting using the ten-system. When using BB-codes, you will be using the sixteen-system.
In this system, the following digits are included:
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 a b c d e f
The lowest possible value you can use while using BB-codes is 00 (this represents the absolute zero). The highest value is ff. Values from 00 to 09 are counted in the ordinary way. Then it gets more complicated. After 09 comes 0a, followed by 0b, 0c and so on. After 0f comes 10. This means that 10 does NOT represent ten!
The best way to describe this is saying that 10 represents the value of seventeen.
Keep going like this; do 00 to 0f, then do 10 to 1f, 20 to 2f, and so on. Eventually you will come to f0. After f0 comes f1, f2 and so on, until you reach the very end, which of course is ff.
Hopefully I managed to explain this pretty well above, but for those who still don’t understand I’ll line up all values in order from 00 to ff.
