EW LOTR RP Concerns and suggestions

Right. So I know this is QUITE early in development but I am basing my concerns off what has been passed around.

1. Map Size

This is one of the main reasons EW RP failed was because of the map. This LOTR RP map will probably triple the old map. If a map is too big players will gravitate apart from one another, making it take for 30+ minutes just to find a taste of RP. This will NEED to be avoided if this RP server is to succeed. I, and some other mod(s) think that the RP server should we released in stages, first one being Gondor v Mordor.

2. Middle Earth Kingdoms

I have heard the RP server will have pre defined Kingdoms. I believe this a bad idea, why? Because it feels like we have a set path to go on. An RP server should be dynamic in nature. The staff should have a start goal, and an end goal. The end goal being an exodus to another part of Middle Earth. I'm not saying bring back Blackfyre, but have the players make their own towns/cities within Gondor/Mordor

3. White-list app

The old white-list app was easy. Too easy. All I want is that the RP server have a harder white list app.

4. Crafting & Plugins

For the life of me, please don't add Heroes plugin. It makes it way too PvP based. A crafting plugin was good but not truly necessary, as well as skills. These were very good plugins but sometimes vanilla MC is better for these types of things

I hope my concerns and suggestions would be looked at/implemented.

Thanks, InfamousGerman

Still doesn't solve a 15000x15000 size map.[/quote]

We should try the idea of first cutting out an area. Like you said, we could start with Gondor vs Mordor, or maybe only make that valley around Erebor, with Mirkwood, Dol Goldur and Laketown (thus containing all races for the people who want that..)

If we would do a Gondor vs Mordor, we could set our story around their wars. Gondor could invade Mordor and take some over their forts (All in RP of course), and likewise. Maybe at the end of a term, a few months, one of those factions would have lost and we could continue to the next story. (Let's say Mordor wins and we need to flee to Rohan for example)

Also, you're right on all points. gg ;)

For the Map Size, I thought that too. The only things that should be ''big'' are the important things (Minas Tirith, Edoras...), the traveling places (The Shire) has to be smaller.
For the Kingdoms I have some ideas:
1- Let the forum RPers rule (BAD IDEA)
2- Make the important places be conquered by the factions(MAYBE)
3- Everyone does a kingdom in a place (must be of that kingdom race or a great ally race of that kingdom race) and the big places are for RP and quests/events (MAYBE)
For the Whitelist, YES. NO BAD RPERS. I've once met one. He called himself the ''Loriod king of the underworld and master of the world'' <-True Story
For the Heroes, it would be nice to have skills (from races and classes) for PvE, survival, RP and adventuring.
For the Crafting, well...No, the crafting plugin is needed for me.

Have carriages to other cites that takes 1 gold ingot and voting for the server gives you gold. Atherys is successful take some ideas from them. Also player shops.

The thing is the forum rpers are some of the best rpers, and some of the worst rpers. All I know is I have no hope of ruling anything Dwarven as TibTib's gonna pull rank. ;-;

Well what I first thought the Role Play server was going to be was a giant middle earth economy server. Where you kill mobs and get gold where you can buy stuff where ever you live (Rohan, Gondor, Mordor, etc...)

I'm not going to say much about the actual server.
Just know that all 4 of these points are irrelevant and don't have anything to do with OUR rp server.

It won't be another "factions building server with a custom world", it will be more MMO styled like WynnCraft.

I will not say much either, as I don't think much is to be revealed right now? But also, the map won't work like that, from what I have heard. It'll be like tp paths, so you run about 50 blocks down the path from Bree and tp to Midgewater or something like that.

nooooooooooo :(
I like traveling and looking at the beautiful landscapes in a server.

NO. THIS IS NEVERWINTER. In Middle Earth but is NEVERWINTER(the Free To Play game, the best MMORPG for me)

Ehm, I think you should relax, Midgewater is right near Bree, so you would still see the landscapes..

Uh we could like avoid the tps if we wanted to right?
Also you should add the stuff from LOTRO, at least some of it in places where the stuff is barren, like ruins in Rhudaur and Cardolan, stuff in Ered Luin, etc. And some of them regenerating dungeons to keep the landscape spiced up. :D

And what, build all of Middle Earth? The teleports will simplify both the tedious nature of walking for hours through dull forests and fields and the building aspect of the server (which will help it be released sooner! :o).
