History of Origins of Empire war and EpicQuestz?

We started out as a tiny server that would get daily map restarts (Ohh... I remember those horrible days) we stayed like that for a year and rarely saw new players as we didn't provide people with anything original. There is thousands of servers like that. So we decided to take things more seriously: We made our first RP server. Nothing special though, only this was the first time we actually spent alot of time and effort into making a decent map. But appearently not good enough. People didn't join and we even lost old players, only a handful of players that we had from the very start we still have now. Well anyway, lets continue the story... We decided that the map wasn't good enough so... well... we made a new one! And... still nothing. And guess what? We did the same thing again, and still hardly anyone knew about us. We closed the server for a while, and when we opened it we stepped out of RP and... well, just for fun downloaded this tiny tiny Helmsdeep map, Tim coded a CTF plugin (which we still use now) and we played a bit of CTF with the people that sticked with us all that time. But surprisingly new people started to join, which wasn't even intentional. We were amazed and we checked the internet for 'Lotr siege server' nothing. We realized we made something new, something original, and people seemed to like it! It was around that time that Tim got in contact with EpicQuestz and we got permission to use their Minas Tirith map. We were the first server with a full size Minas Tirith CTF map, and ohh boy people loved it. We started to grow like crazy and we had more people joining in a day, that ever joined in the 2-3 years before that. We got more slots, started adding more maps and this is where we are now. Yup, Empirewar LoTR started out as a little fun 'friends' project. And look where we are now, you guys are absolutely amazing for making this possible, we never thought something like this would happen and we're very grateful for all your support.

The funny thing is, I've actually made a video once in which I read a player made book in Minecraft.. 'Story Time with Farmer'
I'm thinking of bringing that back as a series in which I read books appearing in The Elderscrolls.

It still surprises me, when I remember the small RP server, with 8 people on maximum, and now see this.. Like, wut happened?

I only arrived in the early days of the siege server. when there was 20 people online at once on a good day and we had the old helms deep. and the old capture the core map. I found a bit of that map in the new moria in the 21st hall. one of the old goblin spawn points

Yeah, but it was still fun. You can still see some of the old parts of the map in the 23th hall, if I'm right!
