Welcome to my discussion thread, where I will be talking about my opinions and experiences on the lately tested map where goblins/orcs and dwarves push a cart full of gold.
What is that gamemode and map?
If you already know what it is, you can skip to next sub-title.
It was an old idea that got used. Basically, there are two teams, dwarves and orcs, in a cave/mines map. Dwarves have to push a cart of gold to the tunnel on the other side of the map, to do this, they must be standing close to the cart and not allow orcs stay close to the same cart.
If dwarves push hard enough, the gold cart reaches the other tunnel and dwarves win. If the orcs manage to hold the situation and prevent the cart from getting close to the other tunnel, they win.
The map has a few turrets, used by dwarven engineer (and possibly by goblin engineers in future) and that's it.
My opinions about that gamemode
I found it ultra fun, the map seemed well balanced and there isn't any massacre on neither side of the teams.
What I find most special about this gamemode, is that you actually have to push a cart (that being the main objective) however players that have to push it, tell themselves that they don't push it, basically just protect it (at least I tell that to myself, but I thought that others did as-well). Like, once they respawn they know they have to come as reinforcement to their team-mates and their main goal is to occupy the positions around the cart.
It is hard to explain, because while I played that map, I had positive feelings, some-kind of motivation to play pushed me each time, instead of as I often do, complain about lag (but let's not switch to the lag discussion). Feelings are often hard to explain, but I tried to.
Now why I don't recommend using Dwarven Engineer:
As said, the map has a few windlasses, but they aren't very safe to use because there are many various different tunnels & ways to get to them from almost the whole map, meaning that there's almost always orcs running over there, and in small groups, so you get easily killed.
Things I recommend:
If you like doing background actions or just want to get some kills without taking big risks, pick ranged classes, they work very well on this map.
If you prefer being part of an action that makes adrenaline active in your blood, pick a nice melee class and know when to retreat. They are also very fun to play on that map
Ok yes, most of you will say these tips are same for all maps, but if you simply think about this, the use of these tactics on specifically this map is much funner than any or most of other maps.
Here is a quick article I wrote, I hope you enjoyed it and it will give a nice discussion topic on this thread.
