Don't consider this an official thread. Just me, like the old days

I believe that new gamemodes could do a lot for Empire War. Right now, we effectively have 3:
Flag-based:
- Siege-based, where you capture flag points that cannot be recaptured.
- Conquest-based, where you have to capture all the flags in a map, but it is non-linear and they can be recapped (Osgiliath, Laketown, Isengard on v1)
Capturing resources:
- Moria Gold. You have 1 team that has to capture x gold, and the other who has to defend it.
Cart pushing:
- Self-explanatory. In my view, the most flawed gamemode, as discussed in this thread.

So, what can we do to make things more exciting? Well, first we can alter the current ones & add more variation.
Flag-based:
- Have flip-flop maps. What does this mean? Well, each team starts with equal flags, and the aim is to push the other team back all the way. This is, if my memory serves me correctly, how Great Halls used to work.
- Have neutral-flag maps. This has been suggested for many years. It'd work similar to current Conquest-style maps, except the team with the most flags in the end would win (as opposed to the team who controls *all* the flags.
- These alterations could be made to current maps, honestly. It'd add more to them certainly.
Capturing resources:
- At the beginning of v2, StealWonders and I implemented a gold version of Osgiliath. It didn't turn out to well, but I think that's not a fault of the gamemode but the map. One issue is that it can be a) Too hard to get the resources/gold, b) Too hard c) Not enough incentive. These could be rebalanced to make the gamemode more fun.
- One possibility would be to set up a map so each team can capture resources from the other, rather than having one defender and one attacker. This would make games *a lot* more fun & dynamic IMO.
Cart-pushing:
- I mentioned some solutions to this on the Maps (Important) v2 thread
- Another option other than what I said there would be to have the cart in the middle, rather than at one end, so either team can win by attacking.

Secondly, we can add entirely new gamemodes!
Team deathmatch:
- Self-explanatory. This could be added to quite a few maps as it is, but would work especially well on Osgiliath & Laketown, or Isengard.
Multiple teams:
- Not a gamemode in itself... but this would make any other gamemode more exciting. You could simply have 3 teams fighting each other, or set up some sort of allegiance system which means teams switch allegiance mid-game.
- This might be fun with the idea of neutral flags that I mentioned earlier. You could have 3 teams scrambling to see who could control the most flags.

Be sure to suggest more gamemodes on this thread, I think it really would make EW a lot more fun and give it more variety. Tim himself has mentioned new gamemodes is something he'd be interested in.
Furthermore, we could set up a system whereby a map could have multiple gamemodes associated with it, and the gamemode would either be chosen randomly, or the players could somehow choose it. That way we don't have dozens of separate maps.
