Optional advanced resourcepack

Hey. A fair number of Empire War players would have wanted to feel the LOTR even more than we do now, and specifically, a better resourcepack.

Now, the current resourcepack should stay as it is, since having more textures and sounds would be too laggy/way too long to load each time you join; what I suggest is adding one of these little ads in chat saying that we can download a better resourcepack by clicking this link or visiting the website.

What would be expected to see in the extended resourcepack edition: alot of new sounds & some most picturing theme tracks, more textures, including 3D ones.

I am unsure how the code works, but if it is possible, there could be some codes that activate certain sounds IF YOU ARE USING THIS EDITION (like, yes, I do know that it is already being done with the server's default resourcepack, but since what I am suggesting is optional and to be downloaded by yourself, maybe it will cause trouble, so I don't know).


EDIT:
After 5 seconds of Gondorian's captured flag (means noe the flag is orc-taken), there really should be the sound of Gondor's horn (example: Boromir's horn sounds in Fellowship of the Ring). There are separate sound effects if you asked me; there surely is a way to get that horn sound effect clean, since LEGO LOTR did it.
Similar suggestion for Rohan, although this time it would be only for Edoras: the same things for the horn and in addition, in the VERY begging of the round (like after 10 seconds the round starts), there should be the Edoras's bell ringing like when Theoden rides to Dunharrow in The Return of the King. In our case, the bell would be used to mark that the uruks launched the attack, therefore warning the men of rohan.

That's it, hope you don't turn this into something you can buy in the Empire War shop if you like this suggestion, tim.
 
Well I have tried to make something like this with EW 3D, The way sounds work in resource packs to my knowledge would allow for sounds to not have to be played without special pack although that would cause errors (Just warning messages -- enough could lag game out though) for client side... If something like this is added, I would like to see:
A: More 3D models
B: Some custom music that plays for each battle (Actual Custom music, I might look into that)
C: Voice Acting (I have wanted this for a long time, probs could do some of voices)

It would also be nice if modules were added, like one for 3d models, one for more music, one for voice acting...
Along with this, I would also like to see a Module that replaces all 3d Item models with 2D item models for people like De_Mik who hate all 3d models...
 
I don't hate them, I just dislike them since it's minecraft.
About the suggestion: Good idea, Elec and i were also talking about a narrator who says things like: "Bards house has been captured" LoL style.
 
I can see reason in that statement De_Mik, I think it would be possible to have something like that as a client side mod even...
 
Kinda like how the auto gg mod for hypixel works, it tests for a certain line of text in chat and when it sees that line, it says gg. Here, instead of saying gg it would trigger a certain sound to play... Should probably ask Rob about it tbh, he knows more about mods that are client side compared to me...
 
Easy to read all messages sent from the server to the client (just look for yellow bold 'Bard's House has been captured') message, but far less practical than a proper communication such as this one

I also personally think this is very unnecessary and would prefer other features such as this and new maps being prioritised

Limee, I am probably the only one of those people reading the thread and I can already say that Tim will probably be too busy, I can probably ask rob if he can get a text mod working and add a few modules to make it work correctly for speech dialouge, but that is as close as we will get without Tim signing on board which is unlikely at this point in time, maybe if we had entire speech module finished we could have him add a couple lines of code, but still, that would be hopeful... The most likely thing would be that I would just ask rob nicely to do a few lines of code that says if <specific line of text is in chat> then <play specific sound> and have that repeated a few times for the voice module... The 3d models I can probably help with, the custom music would probably also need mod if it were for specific map but if it were general it could probably just be done by replacing vanilla music...
 
Anyways, my point is that if we want this done, we probably need to do it ourselves... We shouldn't expect it to be official at this point in time...

Yeah but if we want stuff such as music playing at certain places/time or sounds, we need tim's or (formerly steal's) help
 
Not necessarily, we can trigger a sound based off messages received from the server, e.g. when a bold yellow "The Minas Tirith was captured by Mordor" is received a sound can be played
