Petitions for mute/ban

Sometimes a specific player ruins the whole atmosphere of a friendly Empire War and the vast majority agrees that they have a significantly bad impact on the server. As Tobberz has said in multiple appeal threads 'My job is to keep the server enjoyable for the majority of people'. A petition to ban/mute a player for a week or so would make this job easier as the majority of people will feel satisfied with the outcome.

I propose a member of staff will hold the petition on the Discord server after receiving multiple requests via private messages. It will be a simple thumbs up or thumbs down reaction. To make sure that people aren't banned unnecessarily, the thumbs up will have to hold 90% of the votes and the thumbs up also has to have at least 50 votes (these specific numbers are just examples).

I understand this idea could turn toxic very easily so it would have to be handled with care. However, if done correctly, I believe that this has the potential for good. I also recognise that this idea may be controversial and so am more that welcome for feedback on this one.

No way. I don't mean to sound like a meritocrat, but a Minecraft server isn't a democracy. The staff are appointed because they, collectively, make the best decisions in these cases. We want to avoid the tyranny of the majority.

Yeah, we have polls for other game features, but are never bound to follow them and often don't. The staff don't ban people because they're accused of hacks, the staff don't mute people because people dislike them.

the main issue with this, is the fact that it's not "viva la revolution" but "vive la revolution"
