Since the travelling from map-to-map seems to be a problem perhaps finding a way to combine two ideas, if Rohan is defeated in Edoras (example) then they have to protect a supply cart or some such for a certain distance just to keep the battle going while still switching maps. Same with Isen perhaps they would have to protect something as well, prisoners maybe? Simply to keep the game going at least.

As for the rate at which it's played maybe it could just be a weekend event to keep it simple until better ideas are found. I haven't been on in little over a month but I don't doubt weekends are still the high-time compared to weekdays. *Just a thought*

It seems you should have read the other thread coz this idea was already suggested, I(and many others) thought about this idea as well but we unlike you actually looked up and saw that someone already suggested this idea.
(I do support this idea as an event though)

Well, the push-the-cart idea which you have proposed between maps seems slightly time consuming in the sense of both hard to code and also will take up time in-battle. I would strongly suggest that simple map switches would quicken this in both respects, because I would imagine that some would find the push-the-cart boring after a while, and would be bored waiting for it to be over and the next map to be reached.

Can you post a link to this thread?

This is a problem that every map and game mode have, sometimes it's getting boring and TBH you can see that in siege maps like cove, osgiliath, moria gold and sometimes helms deep.

I actually quite like this idea, but regarding your idea of a reward i'm not sure just a statistic would be the best reward. I may be the only one but I do not really value my stats particularly so I think that maybe a better more reward-y thing may be needed.

Well I value my stats, and I'm sure a lot of people do. However, a lot of people don't either; an alternative reward, as an example, could be becoming a chief/captain in a war if you have won a war while staying the whole duration.

For example, if I had won as Rohan on Helm's Deep - Edoras and stayed on the same side the whole time, perhaps next Helm's Deep - Edoras war I could be a captain; this could be indicated with a title and colour, '[Captain] RobRem58' in the chat for that war.

On the other hand, this could be considered too hard to code/too hard to actually fix all its problems (even theoretically), such as what if there are multiple eligible captains/chiefs? What if I quit mid-war while being a chief/captain?

Therefore I believe that a stat should still be added and it should make a contribution towards your score. However, there are two sides to this argument and this is just my opinion.

Would being a chief/captain bring any benefits or be purely aesthetic?

It would be more aesthetic than anything else, but I cannot think of any other rewards except score.

Sadly he is right, the staff team rarely check new suggestions and denies 99% of them for being too complicated, too hard to code or just coz they don't feel like it should be added to the server.
Now for real, if they will read this thread they will probably think and decide if it's worthy or not and they will probably be right

Although I like this idea, I feel like it would sometimes skip favorite maps too much. For example, if Rohan constantly wins Edoras, Helm's Deep won't be played, which would make a lot of people sad. That's what I think is the main problem about this.

Thanks for the official reply.

What I haven't said clearly is that wars are separate from individual maps. So one cycle of all the individual maps would be followed by one war only, which is in a separate cycle, so for example, say that there are three maps and two wars.

  • Map A.
  • Map B.
  • Map C.

  • War A.
  • War B.

The cycle would be as follows:

  1. Map A.
  2. Map B.
  3. Map C.
  4. War A.
  5. Map A.
  6. Map B.
  7. Map C.
  8. War B.

Therefore, what you have said will not be the case.
