so someone *cough end *cough recently made a post he immediately deleted basically extending the definition of insanity quote like the "hur dur the definition of insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result" and in a sense, for the first time in a long time, he was right, and a friend of mine, not mentioning names called him out accusing him of being wrong due to medication she has suffered from a degree of psychosis. i want to clarify.
"insanity" has 2 definitions:
1.) the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness.
2.) extreme foolishness or irrationality.
so, in a sense, doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is extremely foolish and irrational, making it a form of insanity.
the problem with this is people use that quote to describe other forms of insanity, such as psychosis or schizophrenia, making them foolish and irrational, and so in an ironic twist of events, making them in fact insane.
The problem with intelligent people saying things, is stupid people always end up quoting them.
