Interesting theory.

1. space is NOT infinite, that is scientific fact. the universe has walls. its like 13.8ish billion light years across tho so it is very large. as far as forming, it is possible for someone with the same dna to form, HOWEVER a person is not born with memories. memories happen from living, therefore we do die, but we don't have to. soon It will be possible to transfer our conscience onto a new body or onto a machine, and that would grant us the immortality that you are suggesting.

This assumes two things. One) That there is indeed other sentient life in the universe ((I'd like to hope so, other wise why bother making all that if it's only window dressing)) and two) that their DNA is similar enough to ours that an exact copy can be made. However, unless their planet is nearly exactly the same as ours and that their body types are similar to ours (E.G, A Gand or a Trandoshan (Star wars) are unlikely to have similar DNA to Humans, but it is more likely to a Chiss to have similar DNA to a human.)

if there are infinite planets with alien life and there by infinite aliens you will eventually find one that is exactly the same.

I agree but also take into consideration that the universe is young.. our star is only 5 billion years old, and the universe is like 13.8 billion years old. eventually there will be one but that may take awhile, and it is highly unlikely they will be even similar to us because life adapts to environment.

Memories form from being alive yes, normally. But what if something just came together that had the exact same memories as me, same DNA, etc. Highly unlikely but we are dealing with infinity here. Its not proven that it has walls, it is proven that we have no idea whats beyond a certain point. and this is assuming that space is infinite.

Gen, while you make good point you're being rather rude about it. I won't bring my personal views on this into play, but I do doubt that there is much alien life that would be similar enough to us to have the same DNA

AN FUCKING DREW LISTEN PLEASE 1. FUCK INFINITY, FOR NOW JUST THINK INFINITY DOES NOT EXIST BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GETTING WHAT IM SAYING 2. rant done now listen, kid. forget memories they are not happening. the universe has boundaries, and sure space may be infinite, but the odds of something "coming together" are astronomical, and lets say they did. lets say there is another "Earth" with "Humans". the odds we will know about it are close to zero, and for their sake its better we don't. in fact, it will likely take many thousands of years before we will be able to determine any of this. and with finity, there is a threshold where it is better to consider something of such a small chance to be impossible, because we will never find out. ok?

alright lets say we assume space and attoms is infinite. and that this event occuring has a 100^100^100^100^100^100 chance of this not happening when any sufficiently sized body of atoms collide. We have infinite space with infinite atoms. Infinite>100^100^100^100^100^100 there for this can and does happen every second in a infinite universe. Even if the universe has walls, and we assume time is infinite. there for this will occur sometime some where, if time and space is not infinite well guess this theory cannot work - or is incredible unlikely like you have said.

Space is generally agreed as being finite, Hawkins says that it may be like Earth in a way, self-contained but without boundaries. Time isnt infinite either; thermodynamics say that eventually, all heat in the universe will be distributed equal and uniformly, allowing for no change whatsoever anywhere. Thus, the end of time, Heat Death. You are also taking on the philosophical argument that something that has our cellular composition and shares all our memories and brain stuff will be necessarily us. Many would assume so, until you think about that thing existing at the same time with you. Would there be two of you, or would that be something different, for some reason?

Okay, here I go then. So according to the Big Bang Theory (role credits), which belongs to the most acclaimed amongst theories concerning this matter, space is in fact infinite, but according to the basic Laws of Physics, matter is finite. Due to the Big Bang, pieces of matter may be scattered farther and farther outwards, but this would not increase the amount of matter EXISTING. One could see it like this: you can take a cookie and split it into four pieces and then place the pieces on the ground with two metres between them and the next piece in a square. Now the cookie would be spread across a greater volume, but the amount of cookie is still the same. This means that there is a finite amount of possibilities that there is alien life which has the same DNA as humans. And though I believe that there quite a bit of matter in this universe, the chance of a place even being similar enough to Earth to have any humans at all (completely ignoring the part about one that is exactly like you) is VERY small. My opinion: it could quite well be possible, but it is not a definity. So yes, you do, in fact, die. Philosophically as well as biologically.

To close this up, even IF there were infinite matter, that would not have to mean that there would have to be humans somewhere. A good way of explaining this is the square root of two: it is infinitely long, without repeating itself, a so-called irrationality. This means that there would always be a DNA different to that of humans to create that does not yet exist. In case you are wondering: I had to split this post up, the whole text would have been to long.

The universe does NOT have boundaries, "son". Before ranting about Andrew, you should attend some Astronomy / Physics classes. The universe, as of itself, is infinite. It is... well, infinitely nothing. And in this great nothingness, there is matter. Now I SUPPOSE I know what you mean, which is that there is not an infinte amount of solar systems and planets and whatnot. Which IS true. But the universe has no "walls", as you so unfittingly entitled them. Much more like, there is something that could be called "Outer Rim" (no Star Wars reference by the way), where the last bits of matter "float around" in space. After that, there is just no matter. Instead, there is... nothing. But that does not mean our world ends there.

Thank you. so you think, in other words, that DNA is infinitely irrational so as that the value infinite does not mean a copy as sophisticated as humans could exist elsewhere?
