You can't, it's something you can't control, and if you end up being short, well, look at the bright side, because you will stay like that and you'd best be confident in yourself.
Coming from a 6'2 guy, it has to start early on. I was basically a human black hole from ages 8 to 17, and both my parents are averagely tall. The only thing I can think of is if he can spread his legs, grab his ankles and pull. Done correctly, that pops your back and gets you back the height you lost from your spine decompressing over the day.
Getting more sleep and consuming more fat and nutrition are all good ways to increase one's body growth. In worst cases, it's possible to get extra growth hormone with artificial methods. Another thing would also be to start using proper measurement units.

Don't ask medical things like this to a crowd on the internet it will mainly provide you with a heap of bullshit
I did my best to give a decently scientific answer, and so did a few others. But seeing the rest of the responses, it's clear what you mean. By the way, how's that g(r)o(w)ing for you Marty?

Yeah, I liked your post. Totally not because of the joke about the pre-Napoleontic system I would like to note though that adding growth hormone isn't a solution for some short people (like me) who have a normal concentration of it. I'm taller than my mother now, a bit over 160 cm.
It may help, yes, but you cannot guarantee it'll work because in this instance here the short gene may be involved, and you cannot change your genome in a safe way.
