How better to describe a person that harasses others on the internet for their own amusement if not by calling them a troll? I agree that some words are only cool for awhile and that these shouldn't be used on serious publications, but there are others that, while new, have their place in current journalism

No, definitely not lmao. This will actually affect the future of education if this continues. Kids of the next generation will not be able to tell the difference between a slang and a formal word. They will not able to even talk formally just because of something like this. There are other definitely other ways to describe a person that harasses others on the internet, in a much formal tone. Sure, it will take a lot of work, but it would comfort a wider range of people, from old grandpas to young teens. Would you rather have an article that says, "this nigga be poppin shots in da hood! He got two of da homies" or something like "an armed criminal shot 2 civilians when he was engaging in close quarters combat against a enemy gang member?"
