Mojang just wanted to scare server owners into not profiting from donations so that realms could become more popular. Truth is the few people at Mojang have no way to monitor the hundreds of thousands of servers and donations. Its impossible for them to do anything, SO SCREE THEM AND DO WHAT YOU WANT!!!!!

Not true actually my server was in fact shut down for EULA violation (so no, not entirely just a scare). Although that was 5+ months ago and I've heard little of any servers being shut down in recent times. But you are right in fact about them doing it partially to help Realms go up in social status.
How did they take it down, Brom? I am honestly not sure if that is possible.

You are right, they did want realms to go up in status and enforced the eula to do so
I have little clue how only that I got a memo from my server host that it'd been shut down for EULA violation.

Hmm, maybe the server could not cooperate with the EULA to earn donations and was afraid it would get removed because of its violation, so it shut down itself. I dont think it is possible for mojang to legally shut down a server.

No, it definitely must have been Mojang. We were getting sufficient funds the whole month til the server was closed. The memo clearly stated it had been closed for EULA violations. We weren't even a big server either... :/

I think Mojang can legally shut down servers. Whether it would be good to take the time and funds to get the owner to court is. . . another matter.

And mojang hasnt even been enforcing it, and plus I doubt mojang would pay over $100,000 for attorneys over a freaking video game

Wow you really sound like akam here. So immature and so unfitting..

EULA was actually meant to make servers more fair, and it would had made them more fair if they had the ability to control it. It's a shame they couldn't control it and punish people, but just because a law isn't punished for breaking doesn't mean you should break it..

In my opinion, EULA is slowly straggling the life out of servers. The removal of donor classes has led to a lack of donations, and so many small servers or servers that rely on donations to stay alive are being crushed.

The EULA was made to help guide servers into the right direction, by disapproving of over-powered and plain unfair bonuses, though allowed servers to still share appreciation for the generousity of the players who donated. At one point this summer, Mojang realized their guidelines were not being obeyed and followed by a large majority of servers, and therefore was forced to inevitably enforce the rule.

After Microsoft purchased the company, and servers began to respect the guidelines that were so created for them, Mojang stopped enforcing the EULA because they realized that servers began to change.

Mojang could legally shut down a Minecraft Server, for an offense of breaking a term you agreed to, though I honestly doubt a company like Mojang would spend $100,000 or more over a child's game.

Well, if we don't make it official...

Have a Donation Black Market, and if inquiried about certan perks say that the player earned it for a merit...

Secret, off-server transactions...

Even if the don't monitor it..is it right? EW has that decision To either break EULA or do the right thing

This. Tim. You hit the bloody nail right on the head. I applaud you sir. The prats who want to ignore what has been said by the people who MADE THE GAME and provide updates for said game, put up with five year olds complaining and still seem to have a good attitude can bugger off. Rules are made to be followed, not broken. (save in very very very rare cases of which this is not one)

The EULA was made in my opinion to intimidate servers that spoil the game with overpowered donors, and keep servers staying fun. Though, I dont think it was a coincidence that the same week Realms came out (and failed horridly) that Mojang decided to enforce this rule.

I agree 100% with what python said in the main post give players something and they will give you something back. Now I dnated not that long ago out of goodwill but I honestly think Python has a point here. Look at the votes Tim and pls understand what the people want. Don't feel like I am trying to force you into anything :). And as for you Saighdiur what is the point in coming on here and running your mouth calling people prats. Indeed rules are to be followed I understand but these guys just want this server to stay alive. (excepth the greeedy ods who want this for their personal benefit) and maybe Tim and Saighdiur you should think that maybe Pierce99 was just saying what someone else told him and made it sound believable. Tell me guys the rules say respect other players but in my personal opinion Saighdiur and Tim (Tim not against you in any way) just disrespected other players and Tim acually just disrespected Pierce99 and noone else but you Saighdiur calling people prats? Not a good idea.

No sorry, Tim is against readding /unite. (Which is a good thing :3)
What about adding ./cow? (jk the spam it would cause x.x)

I would like some staff to look at this, or discuss it, since a large majority of people (98.7% out of 53 people want this ADDED!) and all perks would help encourage donation without resorting to PAY2WIN features, I believe this is a good idea and deserves more acknowledgement that what it has been given.
