Add Useable Catapults to most maps?

I love these things, not only do they give you a way to make your own entrances but there hella fun to use on enemy opponents. I got a 7 killstreak today with a catapult and it would be fun if all maps got the same chance as Erebor did with useable catapults

It really depends on the map. Laketown and both Moria's would be a no, Osgiliath and Dale would be a big maybe due to space while Helm's Deep would have ballistae instead. But yeah, having a siege engine on each map would be a cool way of varying game play.

On certain maps I feel like it would ruin the game-play, i.e Minas Tirith. Some ideas would be as witch said, a ballista on Helm's Deep, which could make ladder go up where you shoot it. Also I feel that the coding could be changed ever so slightly, if possible, that when blocks get hit, there are not floating block mid air above the whole.

We have been trying to add as many siege mechanics as possible, but we must keep in mind overall gameplay and how much they fit.

For example, adding them to Minas Tirith would be useless, since battle is happening on the walls and the catapults are hardly effective there. For Edoras, there are already easily passable walls, and it would become too easy.

Also, catapults can take a lot of the battle focus away from the actual flag and battle, something we don't want. The reason it works so well for Erebor, is that that gate battle is just ramming apart from the catapult, with no ladders or other way in.

"no other way in" besides climbing on either side, or mage jumping on the small statues just next to the doors :v

In fairness most players don't seem to know those are options or aren't creative enough to do that. The collective team will instead continue to throw bodies at the gate or walls until they bust thru or the round ends. The catapults have really fixed this a great deal. However thinking of this in comparison to other maps, aside from Tirith where it would be a really game-altering (and even confusing to new players) there aren't any other maps where Catapults could be more useful than they are.

well i mean you could put it where the trolls where in the hobbit where they launched rocks into the city, also the best thing you suggested so far before it got deleted is i was a weeb (even though your the one who jacks off to anime)

Alright for one, the map isn't movie accurate in almost any way accept that it's got a keep, houses a wall and it's name is Dale. Also the terrain surrounding the area is beyond unholy in the way of finding something flat enough to put a Catapult and/or other rock launching device on. Aside from that, the start, which is the only good place for such things, is a bridge. The bridge effectively makes any way in an all new side route and doesn't seem right since you aren't supposed to go that way anyway and even if you did bust thru you'd immediately be greeted by a house wall or a tree or maybe just more wall. At any rate, it would be much to messy and too much effort than to just bash your way in. I'd also like to note the map has ladders and constructor already so, why not just build a little staircase up into/over the wall? Unless there's something I've missed then most existing maps are fine as they are in regards to siege engines.

Be nice and stay on topic...

((back to the topic shall we))
I don't see any map where catapults would actually make the map or gameplay better, or logical. In tirith they would be useless if used by attackers ((they walls are too dam high and was said to be tough as fck)). In helms deep it would be op. In edoras the gate is the strongest defense point and adding catapults would simply buff the attackers too much. In loss there is no place to add them and they simply wouldn't fit. There is no need to talk about Dale, durin's halls and Laketown ((even though a balistia like the one in loss could be added to the windlass in Laketown)) and Minas morgul is same as tirith.
I think that beside those facts the catapults attract to many players and then almost none are pushing. Great example for that was when out of 11 players 6-7 players were around the catapults. It also caused the catapults to be useless when over 3 players tried to use each catapult, leading to random rocks that almost never killed someone and not even close to making a path for the orcs.
Yes, the catapults are cool. But they hardly fit in one map and most of the time they prevent players from playing the game and simply fight over who can hit that lever faster.
A way to stop this is to add goblin engineer or allow only 1 class to use catapults.

Remove the possibility to use catapults after the flag has been cleared/door has been broken on erebor, there's way too many people using them for no reason.

Just because 1 person wants to shoot catapults and not make the game insanly boring and the exact same as it is always it shouldnt matter so much, get over it

The main problem is that it's not one player. It is mostly more players than 2 players and that's more player than catapults, making it fcking useless.
You probably don't notice that because you play for the kills and to achieve the objective but it attract too many players and not "1 person wants to shoot catapults".

Or, you know, when there are 3 players in the goblins team, 4 in the dwarves, and 3 players decide to stick around the catapults... Yes, it IS a problem.
