Elves vs. Dwarves

So I saw Yianni's post and, frankly, have never seen a greater collection of stupid, uneducated comments and retorts in my life. Some intelligent comments were made, by Sauron, Lucolas, and others, but most were stupid, and I have grown weary of answering all. So here it is. Elves or Dwarves. This is not a poll. I would like you to post below in this format:

(your prefered race here)

(your reason that this race is better here)

And I shall reply in this format:

(smart-ass, intelligent, and honestly amazing, whitty, and sarcastic response as to why you are wrong)

or, on ocassion, this:

(my concurrence with your reason)

So, I shall start with one I have seen a lot.

"The Elves were corrupted by Morgoth. Have you ever seen a corrupted Dwarf?"

Hang on, first of all, Morgoth loathed the Elves, because they were like to the Valar. He tortured them in particular for the pleasure of marring the work of the Valar. Let's not find fault with the Elves, I doubt any of us could have withstood the torture for more than a few minutes. Plus, the descendants of these are irrelevant. They are not tortured Elves, they are Orcs.
Second, Morgoth wouldn't need to corrupt Dwarves, because in the past a few (AND I SAY A FEW) Dwarves have gone over to evil ways and made alliances with Goblins (citation from The Hobbit), though I must admit never with Sauron or Morgoth. This argument is not a testament to Dwarves' goodness, but rather just plain luck that Morgoth didn't want to torture them.

As you can see, I'm not on anybody's side. I defend both sides from stupid comments. Although, I must admit, Dwarves are pretty damn cool.

See, we often choose a favorite character/race because we can relate to it. My favorite characters from Harry Potter are Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood. Why? Because they're both amazing nerds and I can relate to this. Sometimes it's because we want to be in their shoes or admire them. My favorite characters from Star Wars are Admirals Gar Stazi, Thrawn, and Gilad Pellaeon, because I am admirers of them. Same in LOTR. I admire Dwarves and would love to be one. There is no superior race. This is thinking like Hitler, though not as extreme. All races have their faults. All races have their pros. These pros and cons differ from race to race, making for a wide and diverse range of amazingness. It's like Aule said, Arda is huge, and there is room in it for many races.

Ok, comment away with the reasons.

Just to let you know there were many dwarves who fought for sauron in the war of the last alliance....

Civilized, no. More intellectual, yes. The Elves do keep libraries and study a lot. They practice the arts of philosophy, science, geometry, mathematics, and others. However, they study so much because they are immortal. If you were immortal and without computers and other electronics you would probably have to find a LOT of hobbies. The Dwarves keep libraries, too, such as the Chamber of Marzabul in Moria. Don't make the stereotypical mistake of all brawn and no brains - Dwarves are smart. Civilization is defined by the dictionary as "an advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry and government has been reached." The Dwarves have a VERY rich culture. They are superb architects and engineers, which are two great sciences. We all know they are a great industrial might. Their government is about as advanced as it gets in the First to Third Ages.
Hygiene. Again, stereotype. Alright, yes, we may smell sometimes. However, you may not that most Dwarves work in forges, mines, and other labor-intense jobs such as carving. They're probably going to sweat a lot. In Bilbo's house, they DID throw food around, but this wasn't unhygienic by Medieval standards. I must admit that the Elves did probably bathe much more often than Dwarves, but you'll rarely see a Dwarf with a scruffy beard or filthy hands at mealtime.

In the accounts of the War of the Last Alliance, it states that "All creatures of Middle Earth were divided that day, even the birds and the beasts, save the Elves." It is also likely that no Ents fought in the war at all. Dwarves fall under all creatures, but there is no actual account of them fighting for Sauron other than "All". We know that the Dwarves of Durin, and those of Nogrod and Belegost abode in Moria, and Durin VI sent his Dwarves to aid the Alliance. Thus three clans are accounted for. Four remain - those of the Orocarni, the Red Mountains, in Rhun. I highly doubt that four whole clans felt the need to combat Elves, men, and their own kind, especially considering the Orocarni were literally overflowing in all kinds of metals, minerals, and precious stones, save Mithril. I doubt Sauron could promise them Mithril, and I don't think they would have joined simply because their trade partners, the Easterlings, joined. At most, maybe a gathering of corrupted bands or some bitter Dwarven outcasts may have joined. And we know for a fact that none of the Dwarves of Durin fought, which means none of the Longbeards, and probably not any of the Nogrod or Belegost Dwarves, who doubtless married with Longbeards, and thus their descendants were considered Longbeards.

Dwarves. They were the reason Doriath didnt fall for a long time, they were the reason Glaurung was sent back into Angband for 100-200 years, and they also took 25-40% of the assault of Sauron during the third age.

Dwarves, I mean the fact that i hate elves has nothing to do with it, the dwarves are on of the richest cultures of middle earth, who needs Valinor, Rivendel and Gondolin when you have Khazad Dum, Erebor, Nordinbad wich are deep inside a mountain and almost imposible to take by foes, I like the dwarves because the were not made by Eru, but by Aule as his own creation the dwarves are more an image of Aule and less corrupted as Bio said.

@Dimitri

True, true, and more like 20-30%. However, does this make them a superior race? We could argue that the Elves took about 50% of the assault, and were the reason Fornost, The Hornburg, and Anuminas didn't fall.

Irrelevant. If a rotten fruit were created legally and a lovely banana were created illegally would you choose to eat the rotten fruit just because it was legal? It's not the Dwarves' fault, And Eru even agreed to it.
The mark of a good leader is listening to his subordinates, not just telling them what to do.

I know that. And if you'd read you would have seen me say that the poll's comments were basically so many packed sardines of ignorance and irrelevancy. ;-)

The elves let Fornost fall. It was only till after its fall that Gondor and the Elves drove back Angmar and retook the lands that once belong to Arnor. The wars in Rhudaur, Arthedain and Cardolan were the heaviest of that age and they destroyed an entire population, the elves didn't take part in it until Angmar started assaulting Rivendell.
