So I wanted to try out this experiment with you guys. It's kind of like a game, so it's meant to be fun.

I'm trying to keep the scenario realistic, and so responses should be realistic. The winner (The person to come up with the best/most efficient way of completing to scenario wins the grand Joe strategy prize and are regarded by many as a quality strategist!)

The Brief

Someone's been taken, kidnapped, you know what I mean. A political prisoner, trapped inside one of the enemies most impenetrable fortresses. It's your job to get them out.

*Warning* *Warning* *Crappy MS pain incoming!*

The fortress holds about 300 men as garrison. 2 ships patrol the bay every hour, and patrols of 5 men travel between the individual towers every 30 mins. Inside the main keep, 100 guards patrol the labyrinth of cells and dungeons where your target is held.

So, how are you going to get onto the island? How are you going to get past the guards, into the dungeon, and how are you going to get your target to safety?

Oh, and your allowed to take 20 men with you. All have to be players of the EW siege/LMS or regulars on the forums.

So far as equipment goes, you've got pretty much anything you can find in a medieval armoury. I think the most advanced thing is a crossbow.

PSA If you attempt to sneak past a guard in a narrow hallway with a group of 20 men its not going to work, and you will be disqualified. Also, 1 of your men could take a maximum of 20 men in a 1 on 20 fight, and thats at a stretch! Be reasonable people! Realistic plans and strategies will win you more points!

The question for you is, which 20 men do you take? And whats your plan? Get plotting, good luck!

Ok so first I'd take all the bards + Beastly and his elvish rangers so a total of like 15 people.
As far as equipment, all those people are f*cking epic at fighting, so we basically win xD jk no the elves have bows and such and the bards use magic? or just sword/bow, you know Gondor style. Also we have Only, Pwned and Tim with us, and they have creative so, that can get us out of a jam if we need to ;)
I would suggest taking small boats, 5 people per boat, to the back of the island (behind interrogation). We'd wait out for a while, before the group with beastly's elves (let's sat 5 people) jumps the wall and assaults the interrogation room.
Another group of 5(misc bards, ok fighters) attack the armory buildings.
At this point, the garrison would probably empty to attack the two buildings under assault. The third group would then climb over the wall around the garrison, right where they wouldn't expect to see us. They'd silently eliminate 4 guards in the interrogation room, and change into their armor and such so they would seem to be a group of 4 guards + me as a prisoner.
They'd lead me down to the prisons, probably able to bypass guards without a problem as they're disguised. Then, once we find the prisoner, we'd take down another guard, put me in the costume, then switch out the prisoner for me. We'd go back, claiming that he was scheduled for interrogation. By this time it would have been a while, so the troops would be back in the garrison, interrogation, etc. Our best bet would be to eliminate however many guards we can in the Interogation in order to let us flee, and hopefully win. We'd hide in forests on island until we could make a boat getaway.
As for if the two original raid groups (beastly/misc bards) survive, who knows? They should just leave s soon as they need to, fleeing back into the forests.

Simple. Bribe a few guards to make a map of the premise/ cell lay out. From there I would recruit 5 miners, and form an under ground route to the keep, starting from about 30m from the northern wall under the cover of night. From there, I would make underground route to under the keep. If he's keep against a wall, I would dig out the wall out from behind him. if he's in the center. I'd be able to dig in under his cell block. Also I'd hire 5 or six sell swords such as Akam, and H_hents. From there I'd dispatch about 4 guards, collecting the cell door keys, I would unlock all of the doors to the cells, give the dead guards weapons and a few picks and I'd induce a all out prison riot. This would distract the guards from our true purpose. I would then commence unlocking my prisoner friend and bring him out of the tunnel, leaving tnt behind, setting it of after I leave not only destroying my trace, but possibly destroying the northern wall. We would then get into our get away boat and sail of into the sunset.

Money wasn't invented yet :3

My team would consist of three groups, diversion archer squad consisting of 5 Reddagger archer squad members and 5 Ilthilien Rangers, and the main escape assistance team which would consist of 5 bards and 4 advanced swordsmen (say wacko, Kingjoseph, Perry, Anrza), and the final group (only one person so not so much "group") the mole (michaelrotov). Some may consider this too OP, but I say otherwise. This mole had infiltrated their military for some time, years for sure, and had been steadily sneaking information. However useful he had been, it was time to blow his cover for the rescue of the political prisoner. He is not a high rank, like a warden or officer (that would be OP) he is a simple guard on patrol duty stationed on the wall and is planned to be off duty in the guards quarters at the time of the attack.

The above is my team, the following is my attack plan...

We'd wait till an extremely foggy morning. All of my forces are on two boats, each evenly placed with members of both groups (not mole of course), and they would surround both of the boats one at a time and shoot all on deck, then board it and kill any survivors. Then all archers (Reddagger squad and Ilthilien Rangers) would change into the enemies' armor, clothes, etc. and take their boats, while the bards and swordsmen stay in their original boats. The original boats would circle around to the North side of the island and wait for a signal. The stollen boats would proceed to land at the boathouse for "repairs." At this exact moment, the mole would be locking the doors of the guard quarters (from the outside of course) and quickly walked away towards the North wall ("walked" he did not run as to stir attention). When almost reaching the North wall, the guard quarters would suddenly explode from some explosives planted in it by the mole (it was placed in its basement, specifically in the Southwest corner, so as to blow a reasonable hole in the Southwest wall), it had a long fuse so as to give him time to get away unnoticed. With this large explosion, most everyone would run to that area to see what happened. At this time, the archers would just be landing, so they would wear their helmet visors down and the archers would run to the warden's office and take him hostage, killing all present guards. By this time the mole has made it to the Northeast tower and killed all guards inside (the patrol that patrols the wall every 30 mins ran to the exploded section of the wall, so they were not in the tower). After this he waves a blue flag out the window (if he waved a black flag, it would mean to not proceed, say the mission so far failed). Seeing the signal, the bards and swordsmen run up the Northeast beach with ladders from the boat and place them against the tower and begin to climb, the ladders are expectingly too short to reach the windows of the tower so the mole throws ropes over the side which they grab and use for the rest of the climb. After getting up, they come down out of the tower into the interrogation rooms, killing all present. By this time, some people have returned from the explosion to check on the warden, but finds out he is being held hostage (part of the plan). They run back to everyone else and tell them, the attention is now focused on the warden's office. They do not barge in and kill everyone, as the Rangers (however good at fighting) would be overwhelmed, but they would have time to kill the warden too. So the forces hold the office at siege, trying to shoot the archers inside who are slowly picking them off. At that moment, the mole and the rest of the escape assistance groups would go to the basement of the interrogation rooms. As we all know, interrogation rooms can get quite messy, so they usually have a grate in the floor leading to the sewers. Prying this off the floor, they all jump in. After a short while, they make it to the dungeon sewers. The mole gets out alone and (being covered in waste) runs to the nearest guards and tells them that men are coming through the sewers and pulled him in, he directs them to a completely different part of the dungeon sewers though. With a good deal of dungeon guards out of the way, the bards and swordsmen creep up out of the sewers. The mole continues down towards the cell of the prisoner. He sees a guard near the cell. Walking back around the corner, he informs the group. They barge in, kill the guard, release the prisoner, and get back in the sewers, killing a good number of guards along the way. They made their way back up into the interrogation rooms, and up into the Northeast tower and down into the waiting boats. The mole did not though, he ran Southwest to the warden's office and creates a diversion. He runs down to all the soldiers holding a torch and a bag, supposedly bread for the soldiers, but walking in the center of the group of soldiers he empties the bag and explosives fall out. Dropping the torch, a good number of men die and all others are stunned. At this moment, the two boats had come around the island and road to shore. The bards and swordsmen attack the stunned soldiers while the archers make their escape with the warden to the boats. With both the political person and the warden in the boats, the bards and swordsmen run back to the boats and make a hasty escape, with the archers shooting any who get close.

So as you can tell, my men would realistically not only save the political person, but capture the prison warden as well.

Re: Booger

I will show up a few days before the attack and convince them that I am loyal and their advisor (considering how dwight and others accepted my application as an advisor it would be plausible) so it would still be realistic. I would then say that I want to look at their military forces or make another excuse. I am not the best swordsman but I am a slightly decent melee fighter and I am good at sniping (read: sniping, not archery) so with the element of surprise ur plan may have worked, BUT if I were you I would not make a plan which completely relies on a single person.

I would take only one person (Benjamini66) and he would go the castle a few days before to get hired as a guard.

Then I would get captured and they would bring me to the cells where he would give me the key and then I would unlock all the doors and while everyone's running away me the prisoner and Benjamini66 would escape in the confusion.

I would make a really really long post so long you wouldn't read it and you would think :O that must be a good tactic since its so long I am not going to read it thought. Lol

I would really sneak in with about 4 people including myself knockout 4 guards. hide put there armor on then hide there bodies to wake up a hour later. and then act like we started walking from the wardens office go to the jail part and then tell the guards there that The warden wanted to see them and that he was looking rather angry about something they did. and we were here to replace them till they got back. then I would grab the key open the door to the prison if anyone asked me what I was doing I told them that this prisoner needed questioning. and would start walking towards Wardens office then we would sneakly run by Wardens office and free the prisoner and run back home before anyone new what happened.

Ok, new plan, I bring
4 battleships
6 artillery
4 machine guns
2 nuclear missiles (probably around 30 MT :P )
4 jet fighters

I'd surround them with those things and make them surrender. It's that easy! And after I get the prisoner back I'll nuke them :)

Yes it could use some work, but I wrote this in the middle of the night without my coffee so ya know how that is ;)

I'll take all the staff with me.

4 soldiers head to the gate causing a distraction. Both archer towers archers will head to the main gate towers leaving the towers they were at alone. The rest will scale up the walls with ladders and head onto the gate. We'll wait for the patrol to past and swiftly head to the armoury. We hide in the armoury gathering armour like theirs protending to be them. We'll head up to the keep gate saying that we are the patrol for the prisionors. Once we are in, we head to the prisionors and with the spare armour, give it to him. We then go out of the keep trying to not cause attention and then exit the gate and taking the people who were bait away, since they are injured. We'll say that we're going to trap them in the other castle. We will then head out away like nothing happened! :D
I'd nuke(I'd build my own medieval nuke :P ) the damn thing and be done with it.
You're supposed to get him out. Not make him explode.
Duh, like I care...

This IS NOT MY IDEA!!!!!!
My friend lmonster314 ordered me to post his terrible idea. He would have like 5 random peoplewith him. He would be armed with a knife , a crossbow, flint and steel, and a few orc bombs or the clay bombs ninjas used. (he really likes ninjas) He would set something like a tree on fire to distract the guards. Then he'd blow up the gate and his "team" would kill everybody. He was not clear about what would happen next, but he mentioned blowing something up. I fully expect him to be disqualified. just to clear it up again NOT MY IDEA.
