Merge with our server ClashWars.

I must say I agree with mark. It´ll be more effecient to keep using our own IP. I wouldn´t like to see the name 'Empirewar' go either :/

Aye, the name is represents the community. Without it, it's just.. not that we are a real community.

We won't use lotr.empirewar.org anymore after the merge?!
Hat about the 90% of the players who don't look at the forums.
They will think that this server is gone and they stop playing :|
before i knew about the forums (this was agess ago when i was a noob) i didnt know about the forums and the ip changed, without me knowing (i met a few other people on other CTF servers that wanted to get back on but coulndt). so basically unless u want loads of ppl to stop ew forever keep the ip the same

I don't see any reason why we would remove the current IP.
Paying for a domain is only like 10$ a year it wouldn't be worth it dropping the IP in my opinion.
For the same reason as I kept fantasywar IP because some people are still connecting to it etc.
So you shouldn't worry about that it will just get more IP's and the main IP will change so that new users will use the new IP instead of the current IP.

With this merger, just to clarify, what, if anything will change?
More staff, less lag? more players....
If Tim and Worstboy32 trust each other with this merge i have no problem.

Yeah talk about trust ooh boy lol xD so many things crossing my mind right now.
On other note, funny how tim still has LMS in his signature when its down for ages now.
And I doubt donators will get a refund for it................... I asked him about it and he replied with on off topic sentence: Well, we're working on merging with a big minigame network to create a huge new amount of games.
.... Me and all others donated for LMS donator things, not for other minigames.....

We might create LMS on the CW network.
I have no idea what it is yet haha but it wouldn't be a issue adding it to the network.

Where will the HUB and lotr hosted?
Excepted tps?
Is the hub just a redirection to other self-stand servers, or is this a gigantic imposible thing?
DDoS?
Are plugins self made and private or just avalible to everyone?

Just be patient with those donor ranks. We haven't forgot about them :p
If it comes down to giving back money, then that's what it comes down to ^^

I think most of the disagreement comes down to the following:
- concerns about the EW community
- concerns about this site
- ego
- concerns about discontinuation of support due to focus on other mini games
- concerns about player loss to other mini games

These can be solved by the following:

Already will be done
- keeping this site and linking it directly to CW site for integration of communities
- keeping IP of siege server

My suggestions
- not changing too much to 'fit' other CW mini games as tim said earlier on, there is no need as all the mini games are unique
- not having too many mini games, at least not at the initial stages. We are not hive yet.
- showcasing siege as one of the primary mini games, so it will be located in an important spot in the CW hub, along with others (e.g. Spleef)
- recreating LMS or even RP/'empires' in the future, as these are things people are itching to return. This would highly boost support towards the merger, and might attract more players. With the increased resources it should be possible and all remaining problems with ego will disappear if this is done.

The servers will be hosted in the UK.
In the future we might get 2 data centers one in the US and one in Europe like France but for now everything will be in the UK.
We have the Nr.1 data-center in the UK though so even if you're from Australia you wont have much delay.
People who played FantasyWar should have good experience with this and can confirm this. (Last 4 months of FantasyWar)

At the start Siege will still be on it's own machine.
We are planning to move all servers together though but it's not gonna be a "gigantic impossible thing" :p
We will put about 3 servers on each machine and we will keep adding new machines to our network when we add more events.
We will release with 3 machines probably for around 6<>8 events. (Including lobby)
This means we can hold around 1200 players total.
But as said this can be increased with more machines at any time.

For DDOS we have currently just DDOS mitigation.
This means as soon as our servers get attacked my a DDOS attack our data center takes care of it and puts us on a new network within 5 minutes.
Everything stays same for the user but the attackers wont be able to attack again in most cases.
However, once the server grows big we will invest in DDOS protection of course.
But then we talk about thousands a month so we need to get a bigger community first and have some server donations.

And to answer your last question.
Yes, plugins are self made I do a lot coding and Tim is helping me with it right now.
But our lead developer is pqqqq so we are basically working on it with 3 people.
We do use some public plugins though like Worldedit, Worldguard etc.
But we even have our own Essentials (Huge plugin with hundreds of commands/features)
And so we have many more plugins for like chat, regions, deaths, inv management, terrain regeneration and many many others.

We are changing just a few things in Siege.
And then you need to think of chat, messages. signs etc so the server has the same house style as all other events.
We are not gonna change gameplay related stuff that will stay the same.

When we release we will have about 6<>8 events and like 5<>8 arcade games. (Arcade games are just small games for 2 players where you can bet etc)
Once we release and everything is stable and running properly we will start with our schedule.
And this will be at least 1 new event a month till we reach the limit. (Around 30 prob)
So there will be a new unique event each month but at the release it will be quite small.
However, we did put a lot work in the main system so it's pretty easy to add events it can be done within 5 hours for a small event.

It will be sort of special because you have a double lobby (the one that Tim showed)
But the main portal will be almost similar.
The spawn is already created so we aren't gonna change much more about that.
Basically each server has a huge portal and each portal will be decorated in the style of the event.
Normally when you step in the portal for the event you get teleported to the event lobby with signs.
But with siege you will get in the lobby Tim made and then the signs.

I will have a talk with Tim about LMS.
I have no idea what is but if it's just Last Man Standing it could be easily done but it's probably a lot more advanced then I think :p
And for the regular servers we have thought about adding them to the network but this would basically require it's own staff team etc.
So the chance of adding regular servers (RP/SURVIVAL/CREATIVE/PVP) is really small.

And just a message for everyone.
If you have questions like the ones above feel free to ask them I'll try and answer all of them.
But complaining and raging about the merge doesn't really help much and this merge is 99% final already.

And you used it for several months on LMS. We used the money you donated to run LMS, and it's spent. You should be glad we will refund it on a different server when that's done instead of being impatient. Loads of servers don't give refunds in situations like this, and in the terms of service it also says we don't have to refund. You should be glad we're planning to do so instead of constantly complaining about it taking a while. It's not our fault LMS is gone.

I don't understand the machines....... are they like a mini-lobby with mini-games that fit into the same catergory???
haha sorry, machines is just a word for like a pc.
Basically just CPU and on that pc will run about 3 servers.
And each server will have their own event with a xx amount of arenas.
Hopeful that explains it a little bit better. But you don't really have to worry about this all :p
It's all backend stuff which you will never ever notice.
But good running servers is my number 1 priority and it will always be.

I mean like the ranks and stuff since there is going to be lots of games if you donate on lotr will you have your donor rank on all the servers or what?

so how will donating work on the merged server?
There will be ranks for Siege, and there will be global ranks for all other minigames.
Meaning you have like Siege-King and CW-King, CW-King works for all servers apart from Siege and Siege-King only works for Siege. This might change later.

Question: Will there be more ways of donating? Examples: iDeal, Paysafecard etc..
