Mojang will decide, just as Notch decided to sell it, even though no one else in Mojang wanted it to happen.
Microsoft will most likely disallow server hosting that isn't with them, and double the prices to make sure they earn from other servers' success.

They have to earn back their 2.5 Billion they bought mojang with, plus they want to earn extra of course.
So how do they do that? increase costs.
Make server owners pay more, make every update have new costs, etc.

Well, there are a few possibilities:
1. By far the most likely is the possibility that they could ramp up prices and generally be dicks
2. Less likely, they actually continue as it is now with minor, if any changes
3. Least likely, they make the game better sinking money into MC development and trying to keep costs for server owners down as much as possible
Please don't hate, I think that poss 1 is most probable

People, don't be pesemists and say you'll "leave Minecraft". That's like saying you'll leave the USA because of a president.
Welp Only_God that happens with most things but the stupid thing is the hate and Microsoft could have been avoided but of course Notch wanted the 2.5 billion. (Greedy) He has now worried us all and Minecraft's future is really uncertain. Who knows what lies ahead. The first Minecraft I ever played was Beta 1.9. I wish that the Minecraft would stay like It is now and not get destroyed and prices ramped up by the greedy pigs at Microsoft. Yes, we all don't like change but this....this is too far.
I see what your saying but I am not paying excessive money for a video game that was supposed to be fun, not a money hoarding game. That is my reason for if and when this may possibly happen, that is why I would leave. The Minecraft I new was supposed to be an adventurous, exciting game, not some sort of "Squeeze money out of people game"
