Originally I wanted to wait a bit with posting this, but for some reason decided to post this now.

Hey again, empire warriors!
Not very long ago, an idea of Squades & Hordes came me in mind. Let me explain:
My idea is to add squads and hordes, basically small groups of players (2 - 7) who would be united.

Basic info:
  • To create a squad or horde, one would need to pay 8'000 points (can be smth else)
  • A player would join only one squad or horde at once.
  • Squad leader would have access to delete the squad/horde, kick, ban & invite players but not changing the leader.
  • A squad member has only access to squad chat and leaving a squad.
  • The squad members would have access to join the same team as the leader even if the team is full however, if the leader is offline and instead, another squad/horde member is active in a team, the member won't be able to join that team (if it's full)
  • Squad/horde members which are in the same team as the leader, the leader can TP the whole squad to them, but that would cost X amount of points along with a 15 minute cooldown.
  • MVP update: at the end of the round, as usual, there is an mvp wall appearing in chat. Well, the best team squad would be added to it. That is why, there are not only squads but hordes; the blue team would have "Best Squad" displayed for MVS (best player won't be removed) and red team would have "Best Horde" displayed. If a team didn't have any squads or hordes during the whole game, there would simply no mvs squad displayed
  • Squads would have access to a chat using a command (just like team chats) but the particularity is that a squad is a group that is active even out of a round. For example, squad members can chat in the squad chat even at the main lobby. However, some of the Leader's abilities such as TP everyone to them are disabled at spawn and team lobby.

    Possible features:
  • If a squad member is an MVP (even if the member is from another team) then every online member get a few bonus points.

Why would it be added?
This would be added for fun, it is a way to keep friends close & play together and it also adds some cool features as well as another point wasting thing!

If I kill a member of the squad who is in the other team, will I get punished?
No. If a squad member is in the other team then the squad system would be ignored for that player.

To be able to create and pay for the squad, I have to be donator?
No, anyone who has the suffisent point amount can create a squad.

If you have a suggestion or a report to do for this thread please let me know as soon as possible, everyone can make mistakes...

No, it won't be THTC (too hard to code) but it might take some time and patience adding this feature (message primarily for almighty sjoerdtim)
 
I don't like the idea of players teleporting to their leader. A grouping system would be pretty cool though, maybe if possible add a UI which shows each players HP in your party so you can quickly grasp the situation you are in while fighting.
 
If it does get added, don't make it donator only. I feel that if too many things become donator only, then it will put new players off the game. I would not want to see this server become pay to win.
 
If you have ever played World of Tanks, in envisage it like Platoons in that game. Would give stat boost, point boost etc. Would be formed either:


a) In lobby before a game, and last for individual game
b) More permanent, I.e formed in lobby but last as long as playtime
c) Only be formed once a team is joined.

Naturally a) and b) could well lead to team balance issues, as all members of the 'squad' would have to be placed in the same team. Post team-choice would not have this issue.

Undecided as to whether it should be a donor perk. I'm inclined towards yes at the moment. It'd either be rank based (Lord+ or whatever, depending on the intricacies of how this will work. I.e: if squads are more OP and large-scale it shouls be more like Vet+).

But the 2nd way, which would be more fair, is have squadmaking a buyable perk from the store for, lets say, 5 Euro.

Other possibilities to buff/nerf as yet unmentioned:
-Unite, but only within a class type.
-Squads of only melee, or only one class type. (Too restrictive perhaps.)
-Full squad unite, as Lime mentioned, but maybe innapropriate.
-MVP points are multipled by a set amount if gained in squad.
-Buff for other players end-game score if 1 player in squad gains MVP.
-Other ways to better intergrate the MVP/stats/point system.


Overall, this is the basis of a brilliant idea and one I think has a lot of potential!
 
The biggest problem is that if squads can join the team even when it's full, this could lead to even more extremely unfair situations. The squad would have extra possibilities like tp-ing everyone in it to the leader, but could also drastically sway the player count across teams, especially with the low player counts we usually have.
 
I don't think this would fit the server at all, mainly because the two main advantages won't be done (see below). I also think that it'll just make everything a ton more complex for new players, which I'm trying to prevent.

This will heavily unabalance teams.

We removed /unite for a reason, and this fits that description. People will just teleport players near flags, on top of enemies, etc. Of course, you could always make limitations, but in the end I don't think it'd be a fair mechanic.
